Bit of a disappointing album Eh, it's nothing mind-blowing but in my opinion it's better than Riot!. Although I have to say the lyrics are lacking a few times, Hayley's voice sounds great on the new record. Eloise -- Say Anything |

Playing God and Ignorance were quite good, and I need a few more listens, but those popped out on first listen. The first half is quite interesting, and I like where they went with the acoustic moments, but I don't think it's quite "them". And the two of them in a row mid-album wasn't a good move... the album seems to filter off past the halfway point I think... But I agree, better than Riot!, for sure. |

They do have the original Paramore structure songs towards the middle. I agree with the acoustic moments but I do think they could have been a tad better. I love the first 5 songs but then the string of songs between The Only Exception and Where the Lines Overlap are somewhat letdowns. I mean The Only Exception sounds so out of place on the record, but it does pick up with Misguided Ghosts and All I Wanted, especially Misguided Ghosts I like that folk-sound it has. But aside from probably 2 or 3 songs it's much less poppy than Riot!. |

But aside from probably 2 or 3 songs it's much less poppy than Riot!. Yeah I agree with those exact moments on the album, with between The Only Exception and Where The Lines Overlap. Just seemed a bit filler-ish. The Only Exception itself seems like it was written as a safe bet for a future ballad-single-release or something, I dunno... The melodies on it are kinda cute, but it's just out of place in where it is. Maybe if it was at the end of the album or something? Feeling Sorry and Looking Up are just...bland to me. I reckon this could have been an album where cutting a couple of tracks to make it shorter and more concise could have worked wonders! But there's evidently some musical tumult in the band considering things like The Only Exception and Misguided Ghosts were recorded... especially after a pretty much ballad-less preceding album. I hate Paramore with a passion and Fallout Boy, All Time Low, Panic! At the Disco, The Maine (not as much as the rest though) May Day Parade (once again they're decent) and We the Kings (they were good at first)
anyway
