Rank: Advanced Member Groups: Registered Joined: 11/04/2011(UTC) Posts: 14,770 Thanks: 6305 times Was thanked: 5703 time(s) in 2512 post(s)		Title: Tell Nobody Label: FREEDOM Records Genre: R&B, Pop Lenght: 3:43 Writer(s): Carmen V, Michael Black, Hassan Denis Producer(s): Hassan Denis, Michael Black Released: May 10 2015 _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Background/Short Review "Tell Nobody" is the second official single from the up-and-coming, Toronto born singer, songwriter and dancer Carmen Vilo better known as Carmen V from her untitled debut album it is the follow up single to "Do It Right" which featured another up-and-coming artist, Payton which leaned more towards Pop with elements of R&B "Do It Right" peaked at #5 on the Top 20 Airplay charts giving the singer her first top 5 single it also peaked at #2 on the urban charts and remained there for 2 weeks before falling out of the top 3 it also debuted on at #13 on the Hot Digital Song charts before falling out of the top 20 "Tell" Nobody was written by Carmen V, Michael Black and Hassan Denis it was also produced by both Denis and Black the song itself is about a relationship and wanting to keep it a secret from everybody else but at the same time it speaks about wanting to go out and have fun with this person which in a way is a contradiction of the first few parts of the song the lyrics aren't extremely original or out there and it doesn't seem as if they were meant to be either the song is rather safe which is alright for a rather new artist however the downside is it doesn't exactly make Carmen stand out against bigger names in pop/R&B such as Isabel, Andrea, etc That being said the production of the song and Carmen's radio friendly vocals does somewhat make up for the rather bland lyrics with repetitive deep synths that seem to pull in the listener and the catchy sound of the chorus in the beginning pulls the listener in a little bit more that by the time Carmen get's to the verse the listener is basically hooked in Carmen continues to play on it as she smoothly makes her way into the equally catchy pre-chorus however despite having a very radio friendly voice Carmen doesn't have the strongest voice there's a sort of nasally tone to it that might turn off some of the listeners Overall though the song is a decent attempt at a more current R&B/Pop sound the lyrics could use some work as could Carmen's vocals but she's still a rather new artist and has a whole album awaiting on which she could surprise some of us and though this song might not put her up in the rankings of previous mentioned Pop icons it will definitely keep fans content, get some airplay and keep Carmen relevant ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Carmen's Comments "Tell Nobody is definitely one of my favorite tracks from the album so far it's just got this fun upbeat sound and it was so much fun to write and it's so cool getting to work with someone again who has worked with SYNCO because who doesn't love those ladies right? Lol anyway the song isn't meant to be overly serious it's not about a previous relationship however if I was going to get in one at the moment they'd definitely have to listen to this and understand that I'm not up for going public just yet yup that's right gents if you want this then you better not tell nobody haha anyway thank you all so much for checking this out and thank you all so much for the success on the last track I really hope you enjoy this one just as much love you all and thanks again :)" ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The Song The song starts out with a repetitive deep synth that is heard throughout the whole song it plays for about 2 or 3 seconds before we hear Carmen come in saying her name however when she pronounces her surname she says the first two letters "V" and "I" before adding the last to together "Lo" after this we hear the chorus which is also the opening to the song Carmen sings in a rather laid back yet upbeat tone her voice is far from being the strongest and she definitely does not try to make it seem that way as she sings in a more comfortable/safe style throughout most of the song the only change is in the pre-chorus and the bridge the pre-chorus is sung a bit faster and as she sings the lyrics "all you gotta do is say "don't go"" she slows it down a little and holds on to the last part a little bit longer she then makes her way back into the chorus which is sung the same way as before she then goes into the second verse which is sung in the same style as the first verse once again however she repeats "Just the two of us" before going into the pre-chorus which is once again sung the same way after she goes back into the chorus which is done once again the same which may seem a bit repetitive to the listener however the song still has a catchy sound to it that keeps the listener into it after finishing the third chorus we hear Carmen go into the bridge where the beat changes up slightly despite the deep synths remaining and Carmen's voice changes it sounds almost as if she's speaking which brings a sort of fun sass to the track she then heads back int the pre-chorus which is done the same way and the final chorus which is once again done the same way we then hear Carmen make a "Shh" sound and the song then comes to an end Carmen V-I-Lo I wanna get with somebody I wanna take off with somebody Thinkin' you can be that somebody But boy you better not tell nobody You better not tell nobody I don't think anybody knows what's up So keep it between me and you Let's just do our thing don't say nothin' Boy just keep it cool And we can stay up all night Turn all the lights down And we'll turn up oh boy you know it and if you want me to stay here boy all You gotta do is say "don't go" And you know just what I'm bout to do I wanna get with somebody I wanna take off with somebody Thinkin' you can be that somebody But you better not tell nobody You better not tell nobody I don't think anybody knows what's up So let's not let them know We got everything that we need Just the two of us Just the two of us And we can stay up all night Turn all the lights down And we'll turn up oh boy you know it and if you want me to stay here boy all You gotta do is say "don't go" And you know just what I'm bout to do I wanna get with somebody I wanna take off with somebody Thinkin' you can be that somebody But you better not tell nobody You better not tell nobody Goin' up like what We be all night goin' up like what Goin' up like We keep it between us going up like what Goin' up like what We be all night goin' up like what yeah We keep it between us goin' up like We be all night goin' up like what And we can stay up all night Turn all the lights down And we'll turn up oh boy you know it and if you want me to stay here boy all You gotta do is say "don't go" And you know just what I'm bout to do I wanna get with somebody I wanna take off with somebody Thinkin' you can be that somebody But you better not tell nobody You better not tell nobody Shhh

Rank: Advanced Member Groups: Registered Joined: 11/04/2011(UTC) Posts: 14,770 Thanks: 6305 times Was thanked: 5703 time(s) in 2512 post(s)		Title: Do It Right Label: FREEDOM Records Genre: Pop Lenght: 3:43 Writer(s): Carmen V, Payton, Manny Rodriguez, Jessica Cabello, Ava B Producer(s): Nevaeh Martinez, Ava B Released: March 26th 2015 About the song "Do It Right" is the debut single from upcoming Pop/R&B singer Carmen V the young singer was discovered earlier this year by producer, writer and label owner Nevaeh Martinez after the two had finally met Carmen I agreed to signing to her label and the two immediately began working on tracks in the studio together Nevaeh also called in some other producers/writers to help as well along with a few artists like Payton who features on this track and a few others who that are being kept under wraps at the moment the track was written by Carmen, Payton, Manny Rodriguez, Jessica Cabello and Ava B who has also produced and written for SYNCO in the past the song was produced by Nevaeh Martinez and Ava B Carmen has performed the song a few times before however after the editing to the lyrics and the beat and the addition of young singer/rapper Payton she decided to release it as her debut single The song starts out with immediately an infectious pop beat that draws the listener in as Carmen sings the opening "Na, na, na" in harmony with herself a few times sounding similar to Mariah Carey's "Do, do, do"'s from "Always Be My Baby" however this is sung a bit quicker in more of a fun way than the ballad after she finishes the intro she get's to the first verse Carmen's voice goes along perfectly with the fun upbeat track as she sings through it after finishing that she get's into the pre-chorus which is sung in a more reggae styled way however the fun pop flow continues throughout the song as she makes her way into the chorus the beat settles down a little however her vocals pick up more as she shows that her vocals aren't just fun but have a certain strength to them as well as the chorus goes on we hear those same "Na, na, na"'s once again before ending it with "You do it right yeah" after finishing the chorus she goes into the second verse which starts out in a more laid back vocal style going along with the beat however towards the second half of the verse we hear her going a bit higher and at the end we hear her go into a little falsetto showing the versatility in her voice off a bit before we return to that sort of reggae styled pre-chorus then once again the chorus after the chorus finishes this time we hear Payton who has been making waves from his singing come in rapping this time as he raps Carmen can be hear slightly in the back adding small ad-libs after Payton finishes his verse on the track we hear the beat settle a lot more only hearing snaps in the back ground as Carmen begins singing in a higher falsetto however she adds a certain strength to this that really shows off her vocal versatility a lot more we then hear her finish up the chorus which is a little bit longer than the previous two she also adds ad-libs in the back before she singles her final "You know you do it right yeah" and the song comes to an end Carmen's comments "So this is it my first official single under a label I am so happy to finally be able to release this after working so hard for so long to get you guys an album I am proud to say it is on it's way and though we might not be the biggest fandom in the world we will get that album anyway I wrote this song awhile ago on my own had a few friends add a beat to it and performed it a couple times after I got signed to FREEDOM I decided to show Nevaeh the track since we were looking around for ideas and she listened we brought in some writers and changed it up a bit but I felt like something was still missing so Nevaeh and I went through possibilities and she brought up the idea of bringing in a rapper and I loved the idea so the first person we decided to try was Payton who actully agreed to it after we sent him the track he came in the studio showed everyone how it's done and that's that story I loved working with everyone on this track Nevaeh's ideas were excellent the writers were great and Payton is just such a talented young artist and so much fun to work with it was a blast anyway I really hope you guys like this track love you all so much Payton's comments Yo, it was really lit workin wit Carmen on dis track and its really crazy cuz we make a dead ass good team since we both blowin up in 2015. She hit me up for a verse since she said she likes my rap style and we linked. I heard da song and knew it could have dat Payton flavor added to it and I went in da studio and laid down a verse for her. On some real, I was thinkin if I should rap or sing but I knew rappin would add dat certain fire to the song and it do. Carmen is mad talented and we put together a nice lil tag team that got hit written all ova it. I mean, Payton's on it....Carmen on it. Rank: Advanced Member Groups: Registered Joined: 11/04/2011(UTC) Posts: 14,770 Thanks: 6305 times Was thanked: 5703 time(s) in 2512 post(s)		Title: Still Turnin' Up Artist: Carmen V Writer(s) Camille Burns, Jackson Wilde, Carmen Vilo, Kidd Amaze Producer: Camille Burns, Jackson Wilde Label: FREEDOM Records Length: 3:33 Genre: R&B Released: August 6th 2015 "Still Turnin' Up" is a song recorded by Canadian singer/songwriter Carmen V it was written by Camille Burns, Jackson Wilde, Carmen V and Kidd Amaze and produced by Wilde and Burns it was taken from the singers upcoming album Reckless and was set for release August 3rd as her third official single following the highly successful "Tell Nobody" after her much anticipated Fan Choice Awards performance however due to unknown difficulties the song was pushed back to August 6th Carmen went for a much more Urban style here as she speaks about partying and having a good time to the mellow yet fun beat After releasing her hugely successful "Tell Nobody" Carmen decides to switch it up and give us an even more urban influenced track with "Still Turnin' Up" hoping to build off of the success of her previous two singles both of which scored her a top five with "Tell Nobody" topping both charts Carmen decided to slow it down more on this track giving us a more sexy sound with fun and playful lyrics vocally Carmen was perfect she didn't try to over sing but the production of the song didn't drown her out either it seems as though the singer has really taken the time to look at the strengths and weaknesses in her voice and give us something showing off the strengths a bit more in both of her previous singles her weaknesses were very much apparent as Carmen doesn't have an extremely high voice so the bigger more upbeat productions on those songs really shined over her vocals and on her more recent free track she did slow it down a lot and did show us that she can sing with a certain amount of power in her vocals however she also showed us on that track that singing in that way is a bit of a struggle for her as well proving so on the higher parts on this song though we have some smooth slowed down production along with Carmen's smoother vocals over it which doesn't take away from anything with perfect production, nearly perfect vocals and some lyrics to make the more calm song not boring Carmen may just have another hit on her hands however this track is a lot more urban than pop so who knows how mainstream radio will react to this track The song starts with a steady urban styled beat that plays out for awhile before we hear Carmen come in singing in a lower style her smooth vocals blending with the smooth beat almost perfectly as she sings throughout the first verse after getting to the next part we hear the beat change slightly as a clapping sound comes into the beat and Carmen sounds as if she's building up to the chorus after this part we hear Carmen switch up her style of singing going slightly higher however not oversinging and managing to keep that smoothness in her voice afterwards we hear her sing the second verse which is done the same way however this time the verse is a lot shorter than the previous verse she then goes back into the chorus which is once again done the same way before we hear Kidd Amaze come in for his verse as the clapping part returns to the beat Kidd Amaze brings the song to a new height bring a sort of exciting energy to the more laid back track we then hear Carmen come back in for the final chorus this time adding a few ad libs to it as well before repeating "We still turnin up fo sho" a couple times the song then comes to an end All night nobody can stop us Bet they think they can but they don't know Flex or don't we don't care We don't turn down we turn high up No we don't wanna quit it We pregamed so damn hard oh Bring the camera out No filters They're double tappin' so hard We know We are all too on We might have some haters But screw what they say yeah We're putting on a show oh yeah Everyone heavy breathin' And when the music gets slow We still turnin' up fo sho We still turnin' up fo sho No we ain't ever gonna stop nah Hashtag what you think about it? However if you can look past the repetitive lyrics which most people probably will/already do the tracks production is done rather nicely with a simple laid back sound that really shows off her vocals which most of us didn't even know was there she definitely brought something different here after releasing two upbeat songs it's sort of refreshing to see Carmen release something slower like this and I suppose it is just a free single so the repetitive lyrics can be overlooked here however let's just hope there's at least one more song like this on the upcoming album with less repetitive lyrics 2.3/5 The song starts out with Carmen singing along with a light piano in the back her voice is obviously edited on this part however it does pull the listener into the song after the first few lines we hear a backup vocal kick in before the song finally starts now with Carmen's voice sounding normal and the piano playing in full the backing vocals stop as she get's to this part she continues singing throughout the first part changing up some lines going slightly higher at then end and breaking up the part before she then heads into the next part of the song starting out higher then going into a slightly lower tone before heading into what seems like the chorus she sings in a lighter voice as she holds the last few lyrics for a few seconds during each line we then hear another layer added to the beat sounding somewhat like a drum as she sings the part she opened up with once again however she sings it the same vocally despite the beat change we then hear her go into the next part once again which is done the same way however the beat once again has that drum to it before she heads into what once again is going to be assumed the chorus this part is done the exact same apart from a few ad-libs done by Carmen once again really showing off a new side to her vocals here after finishing this part Carmen gives a short outro before the beat begins to fade out bringing the song to an end Baby I'm hooked on you You're the only drug that I need These other boys are like Tylenol You're Ecstasy Baby I'm hooked on you You're the only drug that I need These other boys are like Tylenol You're Ecstasy Baby I just want you You got me feigning These other boys are like Tylenol You're no good and I know it, you're no good and I know it But without you I can't breathe, without you I can't breathe You're no good and I know it, you're no good and I know it But without you I can't breathe, without you Without you I'm fallin' down Without you I'm fallin' down I'm trapped in your hallucination Without you I'm falling down Baby I'm hooked on you You're the only drug that I need These other boys are like Tylenol You're Ecstasy Baby I just want you You got me feigning These other boys are like Tylenol You're no good and I know it, you're no good and I know it But without you I can't breathe, without you I can't breathe You're no good and I know it, you're no good and I know it But without you I can't breathe, without you Without you I'm fallin' down (Fallin down) Without you I'm fallin' down )Fallin down) I'm trapped in your hallucination (I love it though0 Without you I'm falling down (Falling down!)
