Artist: Chantal Hayes Title: "Worry No More" Album: TBA Label: Safe Haven Records
GirlSpice's Chantal Hayes follows bandmates Nadia Berry and Sophia Stellar's footsteps with her debut solo single, titled "Worry No More". The sassy new single from GirlSpice's well-known outspoken member is exactly what you'd expect to hear from Chantal in a solo song, but don't consider that a weakness, in fact that's what makes it so special. In a landscape full of perfectly crafted, safely penned pop songs, "Worry No More" is a proudly careless earworm that shows that each GirlSpice member is perfectly capable of pulling off music individually, still with the ability to create a hook that pulls you in from the get-go. Ballsy within its lyrics and insanely infectious sonically, Chantal's debut is an anthemic, hands-in-the-air, foot-tapping pop rock song designed to plant itself in your head after your first listen.
Talking about going solo and writing on her own for the first time in her career, Chantal states, "Working on my own music has been strangely satisfying, surprisingly. Purely because I never really had the urge to go solo, I became a mum and was just very happy with doing a GirlSpice album and tour every few years, perhaps I became too familiar with that schedule. However, watching Nadia and Sophia have so much fun with their music really inspired me to maybe give it a go, so I went in the studio with no intentions and everything from there came really naturally to me. Writing on my own has made me grow so much as a person and a musician, plus I now get to put some people on blast and have fun with it, it's a total win-win situation. I know how patient the fans have been for my own music and I can guarantee no one will be disappointed with what they'll hear. I've got a lot of experience behind me and I know what people want to hear, after all, it's why I'm still doing this."
Lyrically, Chantal's debut is an empowering anthem that tells the tale of a glamorous and dangerous love that's turned sour. "Dropped all the fucks I had to give down on the floor," Chantal sings charmingly in the track's in-your-face chorus that evidently displays her complete lack of feelings towards this person now, as she worries no more about the outcome of this past love. Despite the brave face Chantal puts on throughout the track, there are lyrics that present a more vulnerable side to the GirlSpice songstress, the following pre-chorus in particular as her voice turns softer, "Funny how you make an enemy out of a lover / Us against the world, now us against each other". It's a perfect summary to this love story the song documents, and shows that Chantal might not have a stone cold heart after all.
"Worry No More"
Now I worry no, worry no, worry no more Dropped all the fucks I had to give down on the floor And I ain't got you anymore Now I worry no, worry no, worry no more
Had your eyes on the prize, my heart of shimmering gold Sweet talked by your lips that'd taste of last night's alcohol Your sly lies are no surprise To hide all you've done, you'd paint over the skies I gave into what you told me, maybe didn't believe it all I'm standing tall, no longer scared to fall Just riskin' all I had, cause I had nothing to begin with
Now I worry no, worry no, worry no more Dropped all the fucks I had to give down on the floor And I ain't got you anymore So I worry no, worry no, worry no more Now I worry no, worry no, worry no more
Fancy glasses we'd drink out of Expensive cars we'd fall into At the end of the night, the end of the night It's a thing of the past, used to live life so fast It's all a blur and we're slammin' down on the pedal Like untamed devils And before we had time to regret it all We forgot it all
Once there were sparks Dimmed by heavy heads and heavy hearts Funny how you make an enemy out of a lover Us against the world, now us against each other
Now I worry no, worry no, worry no more Dropped all the fucks I had to give down on the floor And I ain't got you anymore So I worry no, worry no, worry no more Now I worry no, worry no, worry no more
No time for crying And no time for listening to your lying I gotta new vision, oh And this time you're not in it
Once there were sparks Dimmed by heavy heads and heavy hearts Funny how you make an enemy out of a lover Us against the world, now us against each other
Now I worry no, worry no, worry no more Dropped all the fucks I had to give down on the floor And I ain't got you anymore So I worry no, worry no, worry no more Now I worry no, worry no, worry no more |
