april,26th.dropped in the world. didnt know what to do. wandered round and round til i found you. now you got me hesitating . suffering from deception. looking for encryption. my bitterness is gestating. i didnt want to be alone. so i settled on you. i can feel you festering in me, like a broken bone. now you got me hesitating . suffering from deception. looking for encryption. my bitterness is gestating. we know of no other way. i think about leaving i think about it day and night. i never bring it up. im sick of the fight. fuck it,i'll just stay. Jayne sez: first,no this isnt about anyone. its just sort of a just a hodge podge of things i felt before. even the title means nothing. i just took it from that sublime song. the date rolls of the tongue super duper easy. see? i like to make things easy for people! *laughs loudly* who hasnt met those people who just seem to be everything you want? yet when you fill out the paper work for the loan and that first payment comes in? total buyer's remorse. but, you've spent your entire bank account on the down payment...and then some. so you know you cant get anything else,so you stay. this actually started out as a really slow reggae song, but boy was that depressing! so we upped the tempo, added even moar horns. um...merry christmas? sound like : (just click it. i cant write sound descriptions. its ska core. it sounds like ska core sung by gwen stefani.)
a modern song about modern times.
just another sunday funday in the park. drinking orange crush and absorbing coppertone. we dont have to roll up our adidas pants. the lake is no where near its high water mark. but at least we wont need clorox, the sun bleaches our bones.
its not getting hotter. its just your imagination. buy our latest creation. there's problems to be forgotten.
lean back in that la-z boy and flip on that LG. let your eyes close and let your mind drift over the hills. charge your rascal,so you wont have to worry about your knees. your life is sponsored from carter's to batesville.

Jayne sez: ok...we got a teeeeeny bit dark with this one. nothing was going right in the studio,we were out of drinks,(not THOSE kind of drinks),and even the cat was a little agitated with how things were going. my girlfriend was here visiting (hiya daisy!) and being from scotland, she was dying from the heat. inspiration took and...here we are. at the same time,i was lying on the floor. you know, just looking up at the soundproof tiles on the ceiling. hoping maybe i could find some lyrics up there. i didnt find lyrics, but i did notice EVERYTHING has a brand name on it. its inescapable. things could be going to hell, but there are still product placement everywhere. everything we do is an advertisement for these companies. meh. its one of those things that seems like a good idea for a song after a non productive 10 hour day. review type thing
band: SDF-1 stowaways title: self label:none genre: ska core format: digital download / 7" vinyl rating: not bad 3/5
jayne wriggle..most famous for: a short stint on the ill fated big brother 5 (she will claim she won if asked),being sickeningly adorable with daisy brooks on any social media they can get their hands on, a loose association with the infamous hess clan, (she is the sorta sister of erich hess) and ....well,being hot.
seriously, will any of the other stowaways be remembered?
jayne actually did release a solo ep a year or so ago. judging from how even youtube doesnt have copies of the songs, you can guess how good it was. we dont even have a copy to compare this release to. its literally like "whatever happened to baby jayne" vanished from the earth. i found a title and the artwork. thats it. so we will have to look at the SDF-1 stowaways on their own merit. the stowaways are definitely unique. there isnt another ska band in the business at the moment. this single makes us realize what a tragedy that is. when done right...it REALLY works.
the first song,April 26th is really just another relationship song. we've heard it a thousand times. someone loves someone who is terrible for them, but stays because they have no options. meh. dull as dishwater. but. and there is a big but here...the horns on this are so lively and jayne's vocal delivery so rapid and urgent that its impossible not to listen. seeing her on tv for big brother, jayne came off as meek and more than a little naive. this makes it all that more effective when she finishes the song with a defeated sounding "fuck it,i'll just stay." we want to know where she was keeping this jayne! its perfect, really. the songs ends with one final trumpet note and a sigh from jayne.
the second song A modern song about modern times is probably the more interesting one. in the liner notes, jayne does seem to imply it was knocked together very quickly. it shows. the song is very rough sounding. which suits its subject matter. the slow hammond organ intro just really sets the mood for jayne to start singing.in fact, rather long instrumental sections separate the verse and chorus. i would call it padding, but its so FUN. jayne lets her band take the spotlight and give us something to skank to. its easy to see jayne threw dead kennedys and the specials in a blender. but the result is a smoothie we are more than willing to drink.
the good: its ska! a horn section that blows the roof off. fred perry sales are gonna go up.
the bad only a single. wheres an album?! very short A side. god damn scooter culture.
the ugly jayne's vocals are either something you love or hate.
