I'm bored so does anyone want a song that they want to have as a instrumental. I know how to make them lose the vocals.

I regularly record a capella songs, minus the vocal parts.

No you don't.

What you're talking about (a karaoke filter I assume) is a broad bandpass filter at a specific generic vocal frequency. It will remove more than the vocals, potentially miss the fundamentals of the vocal altogether, and leave the upper harmonics of the voice.

Just sayin'.

To somewhat derail this in favour of an actual ongoing discussion, what's the general feeling on instrumental music?

I see three schools of thought on this.

1) "Instrumental music is boring."
This seems to be the Average Joe opinion, generally held by people who listen to music as a throwaway activity, for dancing or for jogging or whatever. This is where most people begin listening to music, but many choose to go no further.

2) "Instrumental music is better than music with vocals."
This is a ridiculous blanket statement in tune with "I only listen to my music in FLAC because MP3s sound terrible" often spouted by ultra-elitist teenagers who've spent just enough time learning their instrument (which is almost certainly a guitar) to think that they're obliged to worship it and force themselves to only listen to that one instrument without distraction.

3) "Instrumental music can be good."
This is my position obviously. After I got over that natural "this is boring" stance of my early teens, I listen to instrumental music these days without it even occurring to me that it is instrumental until someone asks me to describe it.
