Good idea, bad idea, blatant cashing in exercise or long overdue move, sensible or legacy damaging suicide?

Magazine's reunion gigs seemed to get good reviews and no one has held grudges against them for giving it a go, ditto the Pixies...could Lydon's post-Pistols band do the same?

I think a lot of P.i.L.'s stuff off of First Edition and Metal Box/Second Edition is actually better than the Sex Pistols Never Mind the Bollocks and has easily influenced/been ripped off by as many bands. If Lydon was really smart he'd have reformed them in 2003-2005 when the whole post-punk revival thing was properly in full swing (showing up the likes of The Rapture and Ikara Colt for being so-so substitutes), but I guess he was busy in the Aussie jungle and milking the Sex Pistols cow dry...

I've got a hunch that its just something to keep the tax man and Lyson's accountant happy as opposed to being for the right reasons...and, to be fair, Lydon would have to withold from the current in yer face mugging that he's been doing the last 20 years or so for it to be a decent gig.

Opinions?

Obviously it's a blatant cashing in exercise. That's what lydon does best :)

I can't think it'll be any different then more "flogging a dead horse", but they might be good shows nonetheless. Something to entertain the nostalgic ex punks. I saw pil years ago down here in aus and they where quite brilliant. Better than the pistols show anyway ;)

I heard of PiL when I got into the Pistols and I wasn't a fan at first but I like first issue and second Issue/Metal Box, however I don't like them more than NMDB but they really are back together for a few gigs, Lydon's just doing it for more cash/drugs
