"My middle name..." Scott starts, "as you know, Billy, is Success," he says with a laugh, that famous ego that had become part of his persona shining through as it always had a tendency to. "Nah, I don't have a middle name. My parents could barely spare a moment from their busy schedules to give me a first name never mind think of another one as well. But I do have two surnames now, though, so I'll survive," he laughs. For some reason he was now trying to make conversation with Billy, perhaps because he knew that when he acted like everything was normal it always seemed to annoy Billy even more than normal. He didn't understand the way that happened, but he wasn't ever going to argue with the fact Billy got pissed off. The reason their feud seemed to work on such a massively comic-book like level was the contrast between them. Billy was fiery and emotional in the way he reacted to things, whereas Scott was as cool and collected as they came, normally the one causing problems with someone he didn't like, mostly because he knew what he was doing and had that enviable ability to press someone's buttons and really get them angry without even much effort.
When Scott asks about the filming that Riley and Scott had done back when Scott had been a guest on Riley's TV show, Scott laughs loudly and leans against the wall, clearly ready to tell a story. "You know, I've done a lot in my career, as I'm sure you all are more than well aware," he chuckles. "But ever since that day. That one day. The only thing anyone wants to know in interviews is how Riley and I managed to film that without actually bumming. Some people even started a conspiracy that said we really did it just to make it look super real. That's Tumblr for you though," he laughs. "Let me just say that if it HAD been real, and it wasn't, Riley wouldn't have been walking right, never mind doing all that dancing he does on stage, since," Scott laughs. "The reality is not that much less intimate though. The sock thing has to be on absolutely right or else they say everyone can see your knob on screen, so you have to stand there while wardrobe actually puts it on for you. Part of me just thinks they might be perverts," he smirks and then laughs at Scott's next question. "The kissing was even weirder than filming the bum stuff scene, yeah. Because there's no way to simulate it like they do with the sex scenes. But yeah, it was a learning experience, and it was much more fun doing acting than I expected," he laughs. "Oh yeah, that's the only reason I took the job right enough," he laughs, starting his stretches right there in the dressing room to get ready for his workout.
Scott had not realised at all that the fact he was chatting with two members of Weekend was really winding up Billy. He decided to stop trying to get to him for the sake of the band, but even though he knew nothing about the fact Billy was getting annoyed, the fact he was doing so without even having any effort involved would please Scott to no end. He wasn't even the one that had brought up Billy's reputation for being kinky, and yet the fact that he even knew about it was enough to wind up his enemy, which was kind of glorious in a way. Scott Wellington probably wasn't aware either that he had properly wound up his own band mate, but he'd more than likely know about it later when Billy let it all out like he always did.
When Riley talks about the fan club Scott had just jokingly mentioned, Scott holds his hands up and puts a pained look on his face, shaking his head a little from side to side. "I dunno about creative control, man. My wife does love to be the driving force behind all things creative. And she does so love these abs," he jokes."Oh and don't worry, I already have plenty of ideas for merchandising. T-shirts with a hole in the front where the stomach muscles go, and only I get to wear one," he smirks. "I'll do a calendar as well. Shit could you imagine how well a calendar with me in every month would sell? We're talking breaking records and everything. Celia Imrie and Julie walters have got nothing on me," he says with a laugh, not even realising he had made a reference that was probably just a little too old for anyone in Weekend to actually understand. "Yeah, no business talk, I agree," he says with a nod as he pretends to take his earpiece, which he isn't even wearing, out and place it down on the side. "We can just talk about how we're gonna get you back on the dating wagon again, my good man. Or, hold on, were you with that girl for a while? The pop girl? Are you still with her?" he asks with an air of confusion. Scott could recall Riley having some sort of fling with a girl recently, but it had seemed like something of a whirlwind romance, and Scott hadn't even had time to learn much about it before it had seemed to disappear from the media as quick as it had come. Besides, Scott had loved Riley and Michelle as a couple, they were two people he really cared about, and when Riley had started dating again, he wasn't sure what he thought of it, so when it actually happened he had kind of shied away from talking about it with his friend.
When Riley pulls out the photo, Scott smiles widely at it and takes the phone from Riley to look at the photo more closely. The two of them just looked so carefree and like they were having the night of their life. It was such a cool photo, to see two friends just chilled out and enjoying a night in each other's company, and it made Scott smile to no end. "Ah, man, sod the fan club, you have to send me this photo," he says, "it's so good. Look at our faces," he laughs. Scott had never seen the photo since that night, and he totally forgot it existed, but it brought back a lot of good memories to see he and Riley from the very early days of their friendship, and it made Scott think about how glad he was to have a friend like Riley in his life, a true friend with whom he could just be himself and enjoy some great nights. As he scrolls through the album, looking at more of the photos, he laughs and shakes his head. "Man, look at this one," he laughs. "This must have been a tad later in the night, right?" he asks with a chuckle as he holds up a picture of himself slumped in a booth, wearing a bowler hat and with a cigarette in his mouth despite clearly being passed out, while Riley was perched next to him with both thumbs up, clearly absolutely hammered as well, but managing to keep himself upright, unlike Scott. "God, I think I'm still hungover from that night you know, man?" Scott says to Riley with a laugh. |
