So we have a thread for folks to post their CDs and things, but anyone a collector of vinyl records? I'm quite an extensive collector myself and I spend far more than I should on my quite large collection. So yeah, post pics here of your collections, new additions, favourites, wants etc. Might just be me in this thread, but hey, there ya go ;)

Anyway, these are the latest 8 additions to my collection. All came in the post this morning. The Linkin Park one and the Funeral for a Friend are both quite rare pressings. The rest are pretty standard I think.

I have all the Linkin Park LPs up to Minutes to Midnight lying around somewhere in my room. I was against getting an iPod or any of those devices until I was about 13. Before then, I would always buy vinyls or download them off the internet. Then I got into the whole smartphone craze that started in the late 2000s and stopped buying vinyls and just downloaded off the internet. I should try to find all my vinyls and then put them in a box, in the hopes that some day I could sell them when they reach "antique-status".

This is everything I've got at my own place just now. I also have so so many 70s and 80s metal records that my dad has given me, but I've not yet brought them from my parents' house to my own. He probably has three times as many as this there, with some real gems of first presses from Motorhead, Maiden and Sabbath in particular.

As you can see from this, I'm a big fan of coloured vinyls and picture discs. And I now have records all over my bedroom floor lol.

Just had a wonderful vinyl morning to ring in the new year. Visiting my dad, so I went up his attic to discover the remainder of his vinyl collection. Sadly wasn't allowed to take any of the amazing 7" collection up there, but I have come away with an awesome haul of about 35 albums from the 70s and 80s, including original pressings of Motorhead's Ace of Spades, Black Sabbath's Heaven and Hell and Led Zeppelin IV. What a morning.

Only really started delving into vinyl about four years ago, so this is a topic that I never took part in at the time of posting. I've built a decent sized collection but I'm not what you'd consider a serious collector and I can't claim to have an extensive knowledge of the vinyl world. I tend to go through spells where I'll get carried away with purchases for a month or two and then nothing for four or five months.
I don't just limit myself to things that I know I like and prefer to take a chance on something I might be unfamiliar with. In the list below, there's around thirty or forty or so that are handed down from the older generation but mostly these are my own purchases. I also subscribe to a monthly vinyl subscription service which can sometimes be hit or miss, mostly been sent some great stuff though.

For reference, my music taste as a teenager was the 2000's pop-punk/emo era (there's weirdly very little of that in the collection) and as I got older went into older 70's rock/singer-songwriter stuff like Springsteen, Dylan, The Rolling Stones etc. which is probably where my tastes tend to lean more towards now. In terms of current purchasing trends, I'm trying to add a little more modern 2010's mainstream stuff to the collection, I've noticed that 2010 to 2020 era of pop-music translates a little better to vinyl than I may have gave that era of music credit for at the time (could just be me, but let me know if you agree), feel like I've missed out on some pretty interesting stuff so I'm sort of looking into that era more at the moment with my recent purchases.

Anyway, I've spent the morning sorting through and updating my discogs account and thought it would be interesting to bring this back. I blame BrownSugar for giving me the bug again after showing some of his creations for his upcoming vinyl store in the RP section. But yeah, here's the list. I've tried to add some details to the records that aren't just the standard releases. There are things in this list that I wouldn't say I was necessarily a fan of (handed down, freebies, subscription stuff) and as always with these things, I really don't have an extensive knowledge as a listener or purchaser so go easy and any helpful hints/tips are always welcome;

Not even sorry for giving you the vinyl bug, haha!

Impressive list, especially for just a four year old collection! Love a bunch of these titles. As for singles, they're not something I really collect either. I only have a few but they've either been handed down, came in a bundle, a song I really love from an album that doesn't have a pressing, or in Niall Horan's case - from an artist I want to support in any way. A lot of modern 7" records don't really have many benefits. Exclusive B-Sides aren't really a thing these days and the parent album usually ends up getting pressed any way so you'll have the song regardless. Some of them are cute to have in the collection but I seldom spin them.

Reminds me, maybe I should update my list LOL
