Black Death is the 10th official single from Swedish Extreme Metal trio The Enlightened. It's the second song released from the band's upcoming third album, Slave New Race, which is coming this May through the band's own recording label, Arcanum Records. This brand new single is availalbe for digital download and as a special 7" vynil release.
The song was written by Tom Orgsen and Feredrik Hedlund and was recorded at the Black Cave Studios (Stockholm) in mid 2016. It was produced by Bill Owens, who also designed the cover artwork.
Black Death is described by Tom Orgsen as one of the most-brutal songs the band has ever recorded. He commented: "This is a pure black metal song, one of the heaviest things we have recorded ever, some guitar solos are taken from REÄLM's never-released second album. A total dark and wild song, with a brutal blast-beat and very dirty guitar sound". The lyrics are based on the devastating pandemic which killed between 75 and 200 million people in Eurasia in the 14th Century.
"Second single from the new album, we're all very excited! The Cleansing had some good reception...Not everybode liked our new heavier and more brutal style but well, we're totally happy and proud with our new soung. This single is even more brutal and dark, this is true black metal in 2017. Incredible blast-beats and heavy guitar solos!"
