Are you sure, on my I-pod is says 3:33. Or did you limewire? It should be 3:33 minutes of silence. |

3 (Song) 3rd #1 Hit 3:33 (song Length)
What a coincidental genius! (Sorry but only a real fan would notice this) Or someone with mild skill at noting coincidences. Or google. Do you want me to eat you alive. I actually noticed this when I bought the song. When I bought it I noticed the 3:33 and then I was like "If this single goes #1, it would be Britney's 3rd #1 single". Did she plan this??? So yeah I don't care what you say. :P Anyway the song is awesome, buy it, and if you don't like it erase it from your I-pod. I think she plans nothing. Her managers are doing that. She must have a busy life. Shopping, being forever 18. Dancing in front of the mirror. Doing her nails. |

why is there a thread about britney spears on the "music" board?
shouldn't it be on the "heavily marketed saturated sounds for children" board?

i agree all "styles" (the correct term is genres), of music should be welcome, but what passes for pop music today is not music. its overproduced formulated garbage. therefore i don't believe britney spears is a recording artist.
why exactly is it close minded to dislike bad music? no critic in the world, who doesn't have a vested interest in her career or their own, would ever acknowledge britney spears as a viable artist.
- -
oh BTW... i was one of the popular kids in my day, and back then we actually listened to great music.
compared to the children of the '50s, '60s, '70s, '80s, & 90s; kids today listen to the worst music without question.
the main stream music industry is artistically dead. have you ever noticed how all the album covers from the major labels are real flashy with photographs of beautiful people on them? why do you think that is?
- -
if you want to debate this i'm all for it, but if you feel threatened go ahead and throw insults instead.

Nobody feels obnoxious, you are just acting like an arrogant tosser. I've no respect for Britney Spears music but 00s pop music is hardly any more shit than 90s pop or even 80s pop. Have people forgotten about the Stock Aitken Waterman nonsense of the late 80s? There's dire music in every genre of music and there's dire music in every era. Even in the hallowed 60s, it just so happens that Cilla Black & Lulu have been forgotten in place of The Beatles, The Kinks & so forth. But so fucking what? If people want to listen to music that I think is pish then that's entirely their perogative. Doesn't hurt me, I don't listen to the radio, I don't watch music television. It's not close-minded to not like something. It's close-minded to declare that everything you don't like is shit. I fucking loath Oasis as one of the blandest bands of my life time, far, far more offensive than Girls Aloud, but plenty of people like them. Isn't that all that fucking matters? That people like whatever the fuck it is they are listening to? |

So have your cake and eat it, with an opinion so forumalted as yours it'd be like talking to several brick walls in a row either way. And by logic, Britney Spears is a performing artst, and she records, which also makes her a recording artist. But I'm sure you won't think of the logistics behind the music industry itself, and would prefer to be sitting in your black and white house listening to some rusty old vinyl. Elitists, who needs 'em. |

there is a big difference between pop music and popular music. guns 'n roses were popular in the '80s, but were not pop music. the beatles on the other hand were both pop music and popular music. don't get me wrong i love a lot of the music out today, but none of it is mainstream FM radio nonsense. there is no argument the mainstream stuff on the radio in decades past was far better than the stuff on the radio today.
my taste in music is extremely diverse. i listen to every genre, and own a collection containing close to 1500 album. if i don't like it it petty much is shit. it might be arrogant, but i wouldn't say it if it wasn't true.
and i do think my opinion of music is more valid than most people's. you wouldn't say a person with a bachelors degree in economics has the same insight in regards to the economy as paul krugman.

obviously, my first post was a joke. just wanted to see how people here would react to it.

britney isn't the artist. the producer who replaces her tone deaf busted voice with sugary tones is the real artist.
have you ever heard a pop tune for the first time, and you're instantly able to follow it? why do you think that is? its because they're all set to specific formulas. the beats, the notes, the message; its all recycled trash.

Read my post. Britney is a PERFORMING artist, and to be rightfully pernickety, that entails in recording her material - written by her or not (for the record, in a glance at the liner notation for her recent album "Circus", she co-writes on NUMEROUS songs...) - also makes her a recording artist. Can't deny that. Take your holier-than-thou stances elsewhere, they have no place on this forum. Oh yeah, and this is coming from a (Popular) Music and Performing Arts student.
