The soundtrack album release will coincide with the theater release of the movie on September 30th, 2017 through Republic Records, along with coinciding relationships with participating vocalists on the album. The Lionsgate action movie starring Aaron Styles, Evan Espinoza, Erica Hess, Aikya Balan, Brett Mason, Ethan Knight, Mariko, and Cosma Mendoza just to name a few is an action film is based on the novel series Quantum Prophecy. The films centers on realistic depictions of superhuman abilities in the world and the eventual appearance of superheroes and villains. The New Heroes setting is placed in a time a decade after Mystery Day, the day a huge battle took place between many of the world’s superheroes and a supervillain named Ragnarok. After Ragnarok’s battle tank was destroyed in an enormous explosion, nearly all of the superhumans vanished. A few remained, but they had lost their powers, and nobody had an explanation for what happened at the battle or where they all went. Young heroes Renata Soliz, Butler Redmond, Stephanie Cord, Roz Dalton, Joshua Dalton and Mina locate Victor's lair and attack and save Danny and Colin, prompting the first attack and an initiation of war! Victor Cross's plans to take over the world are slowly becoming grim, especially with the rise of The New Heroes led by Danny Cooper - who now yearns to save his father from the grip of Victor Cross and his villians and enact revenge for what they have done. The album also features production from numerous producers that lent a helping hand in creating the initial songs for the albums submission. Choosing artists and songs for the soundtrack was something that was "rather easy" as said by the soundtracks executive producer Mike Terry, and when it came down to it, the songs chosen were songs they felt best represented "The New Heroes" movie. The soundtrack includes genre's of pop, alternative and R&B and features songs from established artists like Serenity Scott, Aubrey Mikkel, Cristina Lake, Kara Romero, Rum, Lotus, Oh Captain\|My Captain, Deneil, Bilal Holmes, Alicia Lena, Allison Cooper, James Urie, Aikya Balan, Jaymay, and Alec Cole but also gives up and comers, like K-pop rookie Jo Kwon, and new pop/R&B singer Len Phantom their first official musical appearances with their respective song entries as well as appearances from newer artists like Cory Dionne and Lee-Yung of the K-pop group BYS. Throughout the era of the soundtrack album, we have gotten quite a few singles as well. In early 2016, before the album was done filming, plans for the soundtrack album were being planned by 20th Century Fox and Lionsgate. The production companies sent out a calling to record labels and artists looking for people to contribute to the upcoming film. For the first release, they wanted to go with something captivating, and proclaiming. Numerous artists sent in contributions and it was ultimately Alicia Lena's "Human Without Humanity" that served as the first promotional record to come from the films soundtrack. Humans Without Humanity was released on January 2017 as just a taster, after The New Heroes was initially announced, the record also was the main track used in the first set of trailers to come from The New Heroes. Humans Without Humanity peaked at #3 on the charts and was the first release from the OST. After promotions and and hype built up for the film even more as the year went it was announced in early May of 2017 that the OST's official single "Take Aim" that featured performers Deneil Khan and and Bilal Holmes would be premiered at the Fan Choice Awards VI. The song itself was in fact suppose to come out earlier, but the production company in charge of the OST felt the song was too "harsh", prompting different negotiations between Deneil and the company and in the end Deneil called on his brother, Bilal Holmes, who offers to offer vocals on the record and gives the song more of a mainstream appeal. After being premiered at the FCA and officially released the weak after, Take Aim shot to #1 on the charts. There have also been other tracks used for commercials for The New Heroes that appear on the soundtrack including Cory Dionne's "Power", which also appears on his latest E.P but was pitched to the production company who thought the song was a perfect match for the movie themes, "Game Changer" by Rum and Coke and "Champion" by Serenity Scott, and "Numb" by Aubrey Mikkel just to name a few. None of these songs experienced an official release and was mainly used as backing songs or instrumentals for the television ads, and previews and scene tid bits released to the public. It is said that there will be two more single releases following the soundtrack to continue promoting the movie. Each song on the soundtrack is used throughout the the movie, including the ending credits. Throughout the album, musically, many of the songs are deep, emotional, climatic and empowering. These themes go perfectly with the movies elements and continues to tell the story of "The New Heroes" through musicians lenses, personal accounts and written songs. The album also features records that are uplifting and brave, but also, saddened, defeating and destructive, something that was a major aspect of the actual film. Following the opening piano introduction, Alicia delivers the opening verse with a softness and a melancholic tone that the words demand as she rings out the words, “There’s a sky of darkness cast over the world tonight/And everything seems without light/Cities in chaos and lives have been broken/It’s hard to find faith and yet we still keep on hoping.” Creates a certain image that is not only in keeping with the tone of the movie but also could directly relate to what’s going on in the world right now. From countries in war to the current political situation in the United States. Making it likely that we could see this also included in Alicia’s next studio record or as a potential single. Cristina Lake is also starring in The New Heroes as super-hero "Energy". It only made sense that Cristina Lake record a song for the soundtrack as she is also a full time musician as well as an actress. "Crash & Burn" was recorded in early 2017 and sent in as an official record for the soundtrack and the record was officially added to the tracklist shortly after. "Crash & Burn" is an alternative record that is more in comparison to Cristina Lake's earlier works as opposed to the new music that she has put out to the public for her own upcoming record. Still, Crash & Burn is a hard hitting alternative record with captivating lyrics about Destruction and Apocalypse that includes a floor stomping rock inspired chorus. "Heroes" is vital song to the soundtrack is used during a flashback in the beginning in the movie that tells the story of the disappearance of superheros stationed in the past. James Urie does a perfect job of getting that emotion across in this emotional, moving and captivating rock record that speaks of disappearance, loss and helpless, but specifically deals with telling a story of the loss of heroes. The song goes on for Three minutes and thirty seconds is is a song about fear and being lost in the world. Aubrey Mikkel has kept rather quiet over the last year after the release of Aubrey's last album, a collaborative effort with Tisha Jackson entitled "Black Godess" that reached number one on the charts. After a world tour that folded in 2016, Aubrey has spent her time recording the follow up to Black Goddess and her own solo album "Victorious". The official single of her upcoming studio album is set to be released in the Fall of 2017. Still, that didn't stop Aubrey from recording a song for The New Heroes soundtrack, and is the first song Aubrey has offered vocals on since Black Goddess. It is a very welcomed changed for Aubrey, as it's a step away from her usual R&B roots and focuses mainly on the cinematic of the production and Aubrey's wondrous vocal ability and performance, that shows that Aubrey is more than just a top R&B female artist. Aubrey offers an emotive vocal performance over stirring production that builds into a huge anthem of a chorus. "Numb" is one of the songs that plays during the end credits of The New Heroes. It is the second official release from Deneil as a lead artist, the first dating way back to 2015 which came in the form of the award-winning and chart-topping "Step It Up". Deneil has remained in the spotlight via appearing as a featured artist on many other hit records as well as producing and penning songs for other artists. His own solo material, however, has suffered many delays due to Deneil's reluctance of releasing material that he is not entirely happy with or that he can't commit to promoting. Being a perfectionist and a recluse, Deneil comes across many struggles when it comes to releasing his own music and being in the right mindset to promote his work and give it the attention it deserves. Take Aim was initially set to be included on his postponed debut album E2 as a solo track but after pitching it to 20th Century Fox and Lionsgate Films when in search of songs for The New Heroes soundtrack, they felt that the song was too "harsh" and needed an addition to take the edge off in order to give it a "mass appeal". Not a fan of sung choruses on a rap track, Deneil was initially reluctant to change the song. He intended to withdraw the song but after multiple emails with the production company of the film, Deneil was finally convinced and called in his older brother, Bilal. As the song is extremely personal, heavily referencing the area he grew up and still resides in, Deneil knew that the only way someone else would qualify as a feature would be if they could relate to and had lived through the lyrics as well. The original chorus was thrown out and Bilal penned and recorded his own one over the beat during just one casual session they held together over lunch at Deneil's home. "Take Aim" is a song that really goes through the notions. Deneil starts off as a fresh-faced, nervous, unsure rap star and role model with the world watching and by the end of the song, he's risen to the occasion, accepted his responsibilities and is even willing to become a martyr for his craft and to spark change. The song focuses on a lot of the negative aspects of the grime community as well as the youths who live in London. Knife crime, murder, drug abuse, the whole gangster mentality is really poisoning the talented youths in Hackney and surrounding areas as they think that's the only way to live and the only way to prosper is to become the most feared. Deneil wants to put a stop to it. He found himself as the unintentional voice and role model. Becoming an unexpected breakout star across the globe, nobody in that area represents it like Deneil. Billy does too to some extent but he moved on and changed a huge bulk of his lifestyle. Deneil still lives in these streets. He is the embodiment and a product of this lifestyle and is the only person that people will take seriously when shedding light on the subjects. Each verse shows him growing more confident and gradually accepting his role as a leader and pioneer for change. The first verse touches on his uncertainty and how he feels like he's being forced to be role model without consent, saying things like he can't slow down, he can't take a vacation, he can't have a nice dream house with white picket fences and that he HAS to lead people to salvation. The second verse, he's now addressing a lot of the issues he sees in his community, getting pissed off with what it's becoming and is now stepping up and fighting back. The third verse, he is taking all the evil and negativity out simply by using his words and educating. He talks about metaphorically killing the poisonous aspects and will not stop until he sees complete change, so much so that he's willing to die for it so that people will finally wake up and realise that things have gone too far. There's a juxtaposition between the delivery of both of the brothers. Deneil's usual, gruff and aggressive voice hammers the point across and shows just how pissed off and confused he is by it all. The harsh delivery and the rapid speed at certain points connote the barbaric goings on in his city, really bringing the violent sounds to life. Bilal, on the other hand, delivers a silky smooth chorus which is like honey to the ears. Despite still having dark lyrics, Bilal is far more soothing and is like the antidote to Deneil's venomous delivery. Bilal's vocals signify the "dream", the hope, the haven, the positive outcome that is on its way. Everything will eventually ease off and it will be smooth sailing, just like his dreamy delivery. Deneil produced the entire song himself, like all of his own work. The initial solo version contained more or less the same production as the final mix we hear today but was "more punchy" according to Deneil, who said that the sharp and spiky electronic beats heard in the chorus were spread throughout the entire song and slightly amplified. For the final version featuring Bilal, everything is far more subtle and the heavenly British accents help carry the track along in a more blissful manner. While still somewhat "sharp" on the ears due to Deneil's delivery and the persistent percussion groove, it is by far the "smoothest" sounding song in Deneil's entire discography. With Bilal's ethereal vocals floating over the chorus, making great use of his falsetto and soft-spoken voice as well as Deneil slightly "toning it down" during many parts of the song and letting his voice float along with the subtle electronic beat then only "hammering" his lines when needed, it is clearly the most methodical the rapper has been when creating a song, having to meet a criteria rather than being off-the-cuff and unapologetic as usual. Deneil said that the song is "a little commercial" but still has [his] own personal stamp throughout. Had the song not been for the soundtrack, Deneil stated that he would have never considered approaching the song like this and working with Bilal, which he is extremely grateful for. The record is the first official song by K-Pop rookie Jo Kwon and the first official collaboration by Lee-Yung separate from his work in BYS. Jo Kwon signed a record deal with FREEDOM in June of 2016 as their first K-Pop signing and management felt that it would be a great idea for the 18 year old artist to be apart of the soundtrack to really get his name out there. After the song was written, it was given to Kwon to record and make any changes in the writing. After the song was recorded, they felt the song would be even better if there was a featured artist. They then contacted BYS's camp for Lee-Yung to be apart of the song, in which he accepted. "Finish The Fight", which goes through the subjects of War, Revenge and Social Unrest fuses hip-hop/R&B and electronica over a cleverly gritty James Bond like theme giving the song more of a cinematic edge. The instrumental alone is phenomenal and Jo Kwon vocals are deep, pleasantly rough, and reflect the tension of revenge. Lee-Yung offers a rap verse that’s fits perfectly with the trope that the song is playing with, he has a fiery flow that he actively gets to exercise without having to share lines with others. Lee Yung offers two verses, adlibs while Jo Kwon offers the vocals. After hearing that the production company was accepting songs for the soundtrack, Banks, remembered penning a record (Hunt Me Down) that he thought would fit perfectly on The New Heroes soundtrack. He sent the record it and it was accepted and appeared as part of the movie. Hunt Me Down is an alternative record that conveys the subjects of Dark Love and Submissiveness. Banks sings deep, moving lyrics over a juxtaposed catchy beat that exudes a rather airy feel built upon Banks clear chest vocals that show strength during the chorus. This version of "Power" is quite different from it's dance mix that was re-mastered by dance producer DJ Cloud and uploaded onto soundcloud. However, Dionne decided to include the original version of this song on the E.P as it fit his body of work for the E.P slightly better and as a way to show the public his original version of the song. Unlike the dance mix, this alternative original version of Power features the same haunting vocal performance by Cory but there's an urban backing beat and an eerie feeling throughout the verses of the record until the song breaks into it's R&B led production with Cory's angelic vocals that are extremely vulnerable but leaves the listener feeling rather uplifted and inspired. The record, written by Cory Dionne, Alex Van Roy, and Evan Chambers and produced by Noël Cadastre reminds it's listeners to remain strong and find that inner power whenever you feel down and out, and to always remember that there's someone in the world who cares about you. The record is a captivating synth-pop ballad that is a clear standout on the soundtrack itself and further hone's in on Alec Cole's synth pop sound that he's adopted since his debut album released in late 2015.
