Artist: Cassie Valentine/Young Hood Genre: Neo-Soul, Alternative R&B Producers:Carter Lang, Nevaeh Martinez Release Date: July 25th, 2017 Album: N/A Label: Freedom
Love (Oh) is a single by R&B artist Cassie Valentine released to digital retailers on July 25th, 2017 without any prior notice of the singles release. It is unknown on whether or not the single is a promotional record for upcoming new music or an official single taken from Cassie's upcoming fourth studio album that is still in the works and without an official release date at this time. The single also features two separate verses and ad-libs by rapper, Young Hood. Ironically, the only idea that Cassie would be working on new music was earlier this month when a photo was posted on SPOTTED that saw Cassie Valentine and Young Hood working on material in the studio, this caused speculation that the two would be collaborating on music, but there were no other announcements, until "Love (Oh)" was quietly released. Prior to the new single release, Cassie has been enjoying the success of her previous album, Matrimony [released last year] which has already been certified in numerous countries and reached the number one position on the album charts.
The album has also gone on to solidify Cassie yet again as one of the sole mainstay's of R&B and soul music significantly in a very hyper-pop music industry. Following the releases of the party infused jam "Hurt" which featured Drew Westbrook that reached #2 on the charts and stayed atop urban airplay for three weeks; the release of hot promotional single "Neck Kisses", and top 5 single, "Matrimony" which was the official final single released from the album. Cassie went on to win the award for Best Album at the FCA VI and was up for 4 other awards that very night. The success of Matrimony didn't stop Cassie from maintaining consistency, and she has already been in the studio working on the follow up to the successful album, but what fans didn't know was that they would be getting new music so soon. Still, it is unknown on whether or not this record is off a new album or any album at all, it could in fact, just be a promotional single. However, that doesn't take away from Cassie and Young Hood's sheer delivery in this collaboration.
"Love (Oh)" was written by Cassie and Young Hood and produced by Carter Lang along with Nevaeh Martinez, and sees Cassie derive away from the R&B/Pop influences of Matrimony and hone in on a neo-soul sound, where Cassie is TRULY at home, but sadly hasn't experimented enough with. It looks as if she's looking to do this with her new music. 'Love's beat has a classic feel with Cassie's voice sounding so silky over the beats that pour smoothly and sensually, over melodic bass and stretched synths, truly giving Cassie the freedom to shine vocally as she always does, but particularly on this record. Young Hood, comes in as well, playing the former love interest, as he raps about giving up in their relationship before Cassie takes over again singing over the minimalist neo-soul record that offers us a different direction for Cassie musically, all the while sticking to her R&B roots.

Love, love, oh Love, love, oh
It used to be the case that you called my name But now all you do is call me out Used to turn the light off and play our game But now our love’s been put in doubt Can you just tell me one thing before I go?
Did you ever love me or was it all a game to you? Was I a key to your heart or a pawn on your board? A notch on your bed, a point that you scored? Did you ever love me or was it all a game?
Nothing for us to lose in this game (Except love....) Love, love, oh Love, love, oh Nothing for us to lose in this game (Except love....) Love, love, oh Love, love, oh
If you ever loved me would you tell me? I keep asking so I guess that’s a no And it was always so easy for everyone else to see How I missed it, I don’t know So I’ll ask just one more time before I go
Did you ever love me or was it all a game to you? Was I a key to your heart or a pawn on your board? A notch on your bed, a point that you scored? Did you ever love me or was it all a game? I guess it doesn’t matter; the result is just the same
Nothing for us to lose in this (Except love....) Love, love, oh Love, love, oh Nothing for us to lose in this (Except love....) Love, love, oh Love, love, oh
I wanted you, I needed you But like grains of innocent sand I slipped right through your hands And I won’t ask again
If you ever work out the answer Come back and tell me one day Now goodbye, goodbye That’s all I have to say Can you just tell me one thing before I go?
Did you ever love me or was it all a game to you? Was I a key to your heart or a pawn on your board? A notch on your bed, a point that you scored? Did you ever love me or was it all a game? I guess it doesn’t matter; the result is just the same
I was never looking for someone to be a trophy I knew you where impatient while I was moving slowly To the goal that I thought we both had But we were never on the same page Guess it was my bad, sad cause I Thought we were the closer that dyad Blood connection deeper than triad
Love, love, oh Love, love, oh
This is the end though we grown apart Left everything why you asking for my heart? I gave up trying to get that back You should know I can't give up On where I'm at, but I'm tired Too tired to hang on, something gives In the end I guess it was only meant to be friends
Love, love, oh Love, love, oh
If you ever work out the answer Come back and tell me one day Now goodbye, goodbye That’s all I have to say Can you just tell me one thing before I go?
Did you ever love me or was it all a game to you? Was I a key to your heart or a pawn on your board? A notch on your bed, a point that you scored? Did you ever love me or was it all a game? I guess it doesn’t matter; the result is just the same
Nothing for us to lose in this (Except love....) Love, love, oh Love, love, oh Nothing for us to lose in this (Except love....) Love, love, oh Love, love, oh
[Spoken:] This road is full of lies and regret But you'll wish to never forget There's a lust in this game Fun in the pain A hope in vainSong sounds like;
