She grew up in a small town with her biracial american parents Lisa and George Robinson. Sophia always loved to sing and perform and was often very involved in any of the performing arts activities her hometown would have. At the age of 15 Sophia began searching for a record label to sign her. While her parents insist on Sophia going to college, she refused the request in hope to find a record deal. Since then, Zinner has moved to various other states trying to make a living by playing with local bands. On January 2015, Zinner began writing songs for an EP but in May she continued writing and began recording the material for a full lenght album. On October 6, 2015, Zinner announced that her first album is titled "Open Door Policy". It is expected to be released in 2018. “Open Door Policy” is the debut album by American singer and songwriter Zinner set to be released in 2018. As an upcoming artist, Zinner was in the search of a record label to sign her so she could bring on a bigger budget for her recordings. In the midst of that she was discovered by producer Arca who was so impressed by her that she insisted on helping fund the album. Zinner also collaborated with various other producers to create what she calls “Moody R&B" and "Twisted Pop".
The title of the album is a representation of a serious break up Zinner went through while writing material for the album. Sophia and ex-boyfriend Timothy dated for 3 years and battled to save their relationship within the past few months but failed to do so due to dishonesty and betrayal. Sex and social theories are also main inspirations behind the album. More information on the album will be discussed in an upcoming interview with Fader Magazine in November.
