You've got a few good albums there, but I wouldn't consider any of them to be stand out records of the decade... by a long shot. I'm not even going to begin compiling a list until the decade has actually passed.

To the bolded part, fair enough, but the decade is 2 months away from passing, now is a perfectly acceptable time to start thinking about what should be on a list. To the rest, well, it's an opinion. Music is subjective. Yeah, I think his lead is atrocious myself but that's utterly is choice, what you or I think doesn't ultimately matter to him. The idea is to compile the "best" albums from the year 2000 through to the year 2009. And as music is firmly subjective then obviously best albums are going to be highly subjective.

Blink 182 formed in 1992.

That's more like your opinion rather than how the list should be. I doubt any of those would even make a top 50 list for the past decade. I don't believe anyone in their right mind would include a soundtrack or a compilation album on their list much less a soundtrack for a terrible film.

Yes, but he likes it. What other criterea can possibly be used to compile a list of the best records of any given subject matter but personal taste? You are obviously allowed to question that taste, and disagree with it (strongly in my case). But someone HAS included a soundtrack to a movie...

Mt. Epic wrote:

You can't deny the fact that Gallagher is a musical genius.

Yes, yes I can. He's a mediocre song writer at best and his music is thoroughly tepid when compared to contemporaries such as Pulp, Blur or Suede.

Thorgrim wrote:
Are you on crack? That is one of the worst pieces of shit I've ever head. I'd rather listen to whiney emo crap than that bucket of steaming horse manure.

Hahaha. Fantastic reply. St Anger wouldn't make my top 100, indeed I'd wager it wouldn't make my top 1000 for albums of the past 10 years. BUT if you listen to it from a certain perspective it becomes the album that turgid jobbies like Tenacious D wish they could write: a genuinely hilarious album. From Lars now-notorious snare drum sound to the lyrics that sound like they were written by a 14 year old and Kirk's abysmal guitar playing, the whole thing is either diabolical, or a satiral work of genius poking fun at the entire music industry :p

Gildermershina wrote:

No it isn't. It's the same.

Also, all these lists are all well and good, but I disagree with all of them. My list of the top 25 of the decade, which is scarily enough just about to end would probably be filled with shit people have never heard of, which makes it pointless for anyone to read it.

One thing's for sure, Old Man Gloom's Seminar III takes the top spot.

Cannot really see why that would stop you. It'd be interesting to read and I'm fairly certain you would find it interesting to compile as well.

On another note, I just want to focus on how fucking good the 00's have been for music. From electronic to drone, experimental to metal, there has been a huge amount of quality music released in the past 10 years, narrowing it down to even 100 sounds like a very pleasant nightmare!

Also, Wintersleeps 'Wintersleep' should be in it, though no ones probably heard of that. Still, also Foo Fighters 'One By One' should be in it, Regina Spektors past three albums should be in it, The Maccabees 'Wall of Arms' and Coheed and Cambria's 'Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV', but that's just my opinion. Oh and Dizzee Rascal's Boy In Da Corner should be in it.

I can't stand Oasis, although i do like Noel Gallagher's acoustic performance The Dreams We Have As Children.

I wasn't talking about you.

I wouldn't say that 'White Blood Cells' was the best album of this decade, and i think that 'Whatever People Say I Am, Thats What I'm Not' should be higher up on that list than many of the others.

I prefer Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice by a long shot. That's the only DSO record I can stand listening to, and one of the few black metal records that isn't boring as hell. Dopethrone is pretty damn good too, but I dunno, the whole fuzziness of that record gets on my nerves after 20 minutes.

Come My Fanatics is probably my favorite full length, but the ETERNAL demo is better than any ELECTRIC WIZARD LP if you ask me. Witchcult Today bored the shit out of me.
