It's pretty nice. It's like Vista, only better. Love the new window manager (snap left, snap right, desktop peek, etc), the new taskbar is cool, slideshow wallpapers, libraries, search... And it actually all works. The one downside at the moment is that not everything is 64bit yet, but that's why the 32bit and 64 bit versions are in the same box.

I'll be getting it with my new laptop hopefully around Christmas time, but for now Vista will do. I'm desperate to get a sexy touch screen one though. It would make porn so awesome.

Whats it like with game compatibilities? That's one thing about Vista that has irked me is some games not running properly.

Older games won't run on it. But we're talking really old. Last century. I'm playing Deus Ex on the Windows 7 Release Candidate, and that came out in 2000 and works just perfectly.

Depends on the game, but from everything I've heard, it's more compatible than XP. Nowadays though, a lot of old games are coming out on Steam and Good Old Games that are made compatible with more modern OS. That being said, if it hasn't worked since Windows 98, chances are it never will.

I really like 7, although the installation was a pain (I stuck with XP rather than upgrade to Vista) so I had to back up everything and then do a clean install. The only problem is that it isn't compatible with my graphics chipset (using a laptop) so it cannot run games since the OS doesn't recognize my chipset as anything more than a "generic display" system. I may end up downgrading back to XP just for the gaming functionality, especially since I have the backups made.

What's your card? Unless it's ten years out of date, there'll be a driver out there for it.


Its a Radeon Xpress 200M mobile chipset. I looked it up and ATI quit supporting that card post Vista, even though it is only about 4-5 years old (which is like 100 years in the video card market). I looked everywhere, and the only solution I found that could have worked was to use a different driver and then tell the computer that my video card was a slightly newer model, it worked for some people but not for me.
