Strictly Business is the debut studio album from American Singer, Tika Mays. It is originally set to be released in May 21 but the date is being push back due to Covid-19 and pushed it to is either summer or fall 2020. The album was made in Aug 2019 through Jan 2020, following after she sign record label deal. All tracks included on the album were written by . The album is influenced by late & early 00's R&B and today pop r&b, citing acts such as Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Stevie Wonder, Usher, Sabina, Joss Stone & Christina Aguilera as inspirations. Clay & Tika working together as executive producer for the album.

Despite having a the title Strictly Business was selected due to fact Tika wanted a new title that is perfect uncertainty of a solid release date for their album as she had a long process to work through from Aug 2019 onward to Jan 2020.


Background & Development

She was Discovered By CEO Of Virgin Records on YouTube and signed her contract with 1 million dollar deal. She was working on her debut album is My Name Is Tika and she worked with amazing producers & writes like Wyclef Jean,Ne-Yo,Stargate,Kardinal Beats,DJ Premiers & Pharell Williams to get the album going. So The plans for her is to release Anybody Girl and that song was her favorite so they was gonna shot video with that song until plan changed due to some chairman leaving to Sony Music while new chairman is changing up a bit like for Tika song is canceled to release as single and prefer her song to be in album however they want boyfriend to be release and it did release but her song wasn't gained success and she was relief cause she didn't like that song . Boyfriend have some moderate Airplay & Video play but still no success on some chart. still working on her debut album to put out but everything went changed for title is Not Just Simple Girl and she was worried about music and image to be changed but image is same but her music is pop however she doesn't feel happy about that and decide to ask the label to release her from contract before her album is begin to have a bubblegum pop sound for her and they scraped from urban music to pop but however she finish her album before they even changed the album and music also she kept the unreleased album and leftover tracks as well. So she was free from label and started to go independent she still doing music and working on her music and working while she trying to stay her penthouse which is the luxury stuff but however Clay discovered her while she was working at Taco Bell and He want her to be their first Lady artist to be on Big Diamond Records & Signed to Warner Music and she signed the contract this time Multi Million Dollar Deal. She wanted to release her unreleased album but she thought to her self like maybe thinking about new material instead of using her unreleased album so she decided to record new debut album.

After several meetings and play some showcases performance the label want her to record new material for her debut album.She fly off to Miami,Dubai,London,Sweden,New York to record her album.
First She went to New York and it was At Premier Recording Studio & Platinum Sound Recording Studio, Then Went To Sweden and record at Maratone Studio, Then went to Miami to record new songs at Hit Factory & Studio 26
Miami,Then went to London new song to record at Abbey Road Studio & Hot Money Studio & finally she went to finish off at Dubai at B Pro Production Recording Studio. She finally got her single ready and it Ready To Fly which it was she choose this song first before label could actually tell her and for both they did said the same thing and went off to shoot the video at Feb 20 through 22 in LA & Arizona shot by Hype William and Hannah Lux Davis and after the video wrap up and for the single and Video was supposed to be release at March 24 & Album Release at May 24 but due to Covid-19 it immediately push back the date so however there was talk about the second single but it kindly wait for some good reason due to some marketing plan & stuff. For Album cover was changed due to some marketing also however she dislike the pink photoshoot one but she did like the one with hip on it so it turn out alright it not hitting but however after that i dislike stuff she like it but doesn't mean love it so yeah but there a changed about the cover label thought it could be a good album artwork but however they look closely about her album concept and in fact it didn't work with that cover so they deiced to changed the album artwork also used it like early artwork before official could reveal and do something different photo so Tika however like that one with jacket it definitely tell the business and that make it for her official album artwork.

Critical Reception
Positive & medium review from Billboard says: it did have some Private Business going on but really it tell some stories but really though it didn't tell some stories of what this album is.

Ready To Fly is the first single for her upcoming debut album Strictly Business released in May 8th under Imprint of Big Diamond Records/Warner Music. So for Ready To Fly is about she having good time and she flirting with some men while she trying to get her groove on with her friends and she also trying to get over her ex's and make him jealous but she did remember that she did not want a drama tonight she wanna have good time also it like R&B POP club banging going on thing.
The song was written by Tika Mays,Ne-Yo & Nija Charles in the Fall of 2019 at recording studio in Miami, Florida & Abbey Road Studio In London, United Kingdom. The song's lyrics talk about like i say her good time,No Drama & Getting over her Breakups. Her label however like the song but the lyric is not like radio friendly and they want her to fly off to London to finish the song but new lyric this time. The lyrics in the song features the word "Hell" at least 2 times at album version, the most for a album version than single mix. For radio, the lyric changed for single and radio.

She went to Sweden to record her song I Don't Need You and have to meet up Norwegian Producers Stargate at Maratone Studio and she went to studio and she say she started to listen to song and picture in her head and went she trying to find a good writing concept of this song but however she dream about her ex boyfriend and started to cry when she picture it. So Stargate & The Dream want her to write about how her ex boyfriend just treat it her and how it end so she was like u know what immma write song about my ex. She Went to NYC and met with Polow Da Don, Bloodshy & Johnta Austin at Premier Recording Studio. That was her first song to be record for her first new debut album. She Says i had lots of fun in studio when i feel bore from wait for producer to get done i have no choice but to loose it up for a bit and that why i can get this fun going. She want the song to be like a flirt and try to get your man and all that stuff and trying to keep him on those toes so that why she got the song to do it with. Original title was You Got It All but however due to some write going on it changed to Got it all.After the Ready To Fly release Samsung sign Tika Mays as endorsement deal with 2.1 million Dollar and choose this song to be used for Samsung Commercial and her new track is on Samsung Galaxy S20 Limited Edition as well.

She went to London with same people that just work with Ready To Fly song Original Version except she have to record a newer version then the original one but Ne-Yo is gonna be finish with Tika this time new lyric added with radio airplay friendly type of thing and then he'll be off back to America. So Timbaland reveal the new track for Tika and Matt Squire met tika when he came to studio and to write and produce the track as for her she lay down the vocal. She Says it was my least favorite song but it okay i just don't like like it so i just dealt with it and honestly Matt is the worst and he the reason i didn't like the song but however i like that song but still don't like it, he is the hardest parson to work with and he just tell me that ur not putting your effort like u not giving your all or something sexy or anything u just useless but Timbaland just defend for me like he say you better check your attitude cause Tika Didn't Do Nothing Wrong so why can u just be hard on her but not in the harsh why so just let it be. i didn't care about matt cause he didn't say sorry or anything like that i mean he left it dead air but me and Timbaland are like family but some people haven't notice cause he is my cousin so and yes is ture. The song was written by Tika Mays,Ne-Yo & Nija Charles in the Fall of 2019 at recording studio in Miami, Florida & Abbey Road Studio In London, United Kingdom. The song's lyrics talk about like i say her good time,No Drama & Getting over her Breakups. Her label however like the song but the lyric is not like radio friendly and they want her to fly off to London to finish the song but new lyric this time.
