"Poison" is the lead single off The Chickmunk Girls's fourth studio album "Pop Emergency" which is set to be released on early August under her independent imprint Hot Eye Records. The single is expected to impact radio on June 20, 2020 on The Chart Heat Radio Format. The song was written by three of the main vocalist (Kathy, Shanti, Olivia) and produced by Blood Pop and Kathy respectively. A music video was filmed for the song on May 15, 2020; which was directed by and is set to premiere on July 5, 2020. The music video is expected to be movie like and the most expensive video the girls have shot to date.
The songs lyrics talk about a toxic relationship and vengeful acts taking place in the result of a breakup. The song's production on the other hand has a more radio friendly pop sound that features a Chickmunk Style dance break.
The girl group who was famously known for their #1 hits "Ego Trippin" and "Don't Stop (Give Me Techno)" and "The Game feat. Stephanie Ortiz" is making a return with all of its original 3 vocalists and 3 back up dancers. The group is also for their racy and highly controversial artwork "Pinocchio" which earned the group one of the biggest fines in the music industry after it was aired during a Super Bowl promotional ad. The group first broke on the scene in 2009 and managed to release three studio albums together before going on an indefinite hiatus. After many years, fans speculated that the group had broken up. With no official press release confirming this information fans were left frustrated and abandoned without updates for years. Their manager Alicia Zimmerman confirmed in a recent interview that the girl group's previous contract had ended and with busy schedules and their previous label crumbling apart they were never able to get a new music contract in the works. The girls were also not allowed to talk about their hiatus for 7 years according to their contracts. The girl group was reunited by Stephanie Fierce who signed the group for a two album deal with Hot Eye Records in January 2020. The 12 million dollar deal will allow the girls to give their fans high budget music videos and quality records. Their new album "Pop Emergency" is expected to be released sometime in the summer with no confirmed date yet.
