I've tried to listen to them and found them to be quite unremarkable. I think I could probably pick out Kids at gunpoint but that'd be about it. |

Well there is a difference between having your own style and sucking live. I don't expect no one to perform like Shakira because she has her own unique style of performing. Well lately she is going all mainstream on us, but on her tours she performs differently. But that doesn't matter to me, as long as they sound good on the record that's all that matters when it comes to me liking them.

When she sings she kinda sounds horrible at times, but she sings, I went to see her in Puerto Rico is was 100% live. Also fans started complaining about her recent miming and now she is performing She Wolf live. You'll notice the difference.

Lol, did you see her recent She Wolf performance? cuz you'll notice the mimed one is really loud and clear and the one where she sings is really low and kinda bad. But I still think she pulls it off. It really is a hard song to sing and dance to. Also MGMT I saw some videos of them performing just now. They are not that bad, they really sound Indie though. And also it's more difficult to emulate the instrumentation of their songs live perfectly, as they don't use a backing track or hired band, paid to learn the ins and outs of every song flawlessly. Besides, that what makes it more charming. |

But I admire them for staying true to themselves, not going all mainstream.

Where as up until now she had Tom Waits levels of underground street cred? |

Where as up until now she had Tom Waits levels of underground street cred? Sure, it's not like she had a big worldwide hit informing us that her breasts were small and thus not to be confused with mountains. And she definitely didn't Wyclef Jean that was the most successful single of 2006. Totally underground. Unlike Tom Waits, who did a collaboration with those massive chart-makers Book of Knots on an worldwide-smash record called Traineater. Fuckin' sell out. Edited by user 05 November 2009 05:10:45(UTC)
