The single got released on September 18th, 2020, through FivePeskyKids Records and Universal Music Japan. After their debut's growing success, "Blast from The Past," and the Samsung exclusive CD-single, "Heavy," Uphoria wanted to release a track more dancy worthy. The group wished to have something similar to the music genre UK garage but danceable, so production team LosOscuros created an instrumental that utilized typical UK garage and House elements. During the first recording session, the group was very nervous to hear what the production team had in mind for them, but as soon as the instrumental began to play, Uphoria fell in love with the song. Upon its release, Critics enjoyed the single and expressed their pleasure with the group's interest in such a wide range of music. Victoria Eaton, from Billboard Music, mentioned, "Uphoria got introduced as an international girl group, and now we finally see that title flourish through their catchy music."
"Horoscope Love" was written by Orion Washington, Chalien Hue, and Medina Valbak. Orion Washington has had a dominant presence in writing a majority of the group's upcoming album, "Persona," but Chaelin and Medina are two names completely new to Uphoria's discography. This trio of writers came to be thanks to the multiple writing camps happening within FivePeskyKids, which allows the label to strengthen its in-house writing department. Chaelin Hue was asked by Pesky's writing head to help with the group's lyrical composition, which allowed her to work closely with Uphoria. Medina Valbak is co-director of Pesky's writing department when she isn't a global pop star and works with Orion to give Uphoria a solid soundscape for their debut album. LosOscuros have been a prominent production team within the pop world, so Pesky contracted them to work with Uphoria for the remainder of their album production. LosOscuros are overseeing the vocal and mixing production for the album.
