"Karma" is a song taken from the upcoming debut album "Milking the Pop Stars" by Daniel The Freenerd which was released on October 21, 2020, under his new music imprint under Hot Eye Records called Free Nerd Music. The new album was his his third as a solo artist but his first under the branded name "Daniel The Free Nerd". The song was written, composed and produced by Daniel solely at his home recording studio in Orlando. The song was originally titled "Lying through a Smile" but Daniel decided to change the title last minute as he felt "Karma" was more fitting for the tone of the song. The song was written about a lover who's facing repercussions and karma after a breakup.

"The way this song just kind of came together was really kind of strange. When I wrote this song I was in the happiest mood you could be so it was weird to kind of write a song that pretty much says fuck you and I hope you like the taste of karma (laughs). That's why I kept it on the album because I literally was going to toss it away. I tend to write so many songs but last-minute throw them away. I'm just that very selective.
By the point, you reach this song on the album you really start to see the picture of what this album is about. This album just really dwells on the idea of being evil and spiteful. Not only with love but also with other things like politics. This song it's obviously talking about a relationship I was in but I don't really want anyone of my exes to think is about them because it's not. This is all playing to a story and concept of the album which is fictional for the most part. It's kind of a direction that I didn't want to take a first because I didn't want to create this narrative but at the same time I do. I don't ever want to be seen as this cookie-cutter act because like many people I have my imperfections. ".

"I was looking for a sound that you can bop your head to but I also wanted to bring forward unexpected instrumental moments that kind of take you off guard. I don't know if you've noticed but in a lot of my songs, I tend to include flutes or instruments that you wouldn't necessarily hear on a typical song and just make that a stand-out element. I'm also just really obsessed with songs that have a production longer than 5 minutes because you really have to challenge yourself to keep the production going without getting tired of listening or the feeling of repetition. With this song is just kind of progress into this mysterious but light airy sound."

Magie: Just when I thought you couldn't outdone yourself you did it. I'm obssessed with the melodies of this track, it took me into this bar with red lights on cigarretes and martinis, it's visual Daniel and the lyrics were also a great deal for me to handle to, as you know what they say "Karma is not a liar" and who's depressed now?. Pure magic. Fantastic job as always.
