Artists: Naomi Release Date: November 17th, 2020 Genre: Synth-Pop, Pop/R&B Format: CD Single, Streaming Digital Download, 7” Single Producers: The Wolverines Songwriters: Naomi White, Cara Zayn Album: TBA The Rhythm is a song released by American singer/songwriter Naomi White. The song was released on November 17th, 2020 through FivePeskyKids and serves as a leading single to a currently untitled upcoming music project White has been teasing for some time. This offering Noami is also the singers first single as a solo artist. "The Rhythm" was co-penned by songwriter Cara Zayn and produced by The Wolverines. The song features brisk 808's that exude old-school 80's and 90's electro and Miami bass topped with glacial, hypnotic synths that compliments the falsetto and lighter vocal register Naomi has gone on to be known for vocally. Naomi fresh appeal that perfectly fits in the climate of today's music. Furthermore, "The Rhythm" is Naomi's first ever first solo output since the official hiatus of the girlgroup SYNCO in which Naomi was apart of for majority of her career. The songstress first rose to fame in 2013, where she was known as the 'perfectionist' when trying out for Weekend: The Big Search as a young girl. Naomi managed to make it through the auditions with ease due to her distinguisable vocals, dancing and natural charisma. As part of the show, many got to see Naomi's personality as she bonded well with the girls since at the time they all shared the same passion for music. After the band was put together and Naomi signed a contract with FivePeskyKids, SYNCO went on to sell millions of records, pick up FCA's and tour the world and release three albums before announcing an indefinite hiatus in 2017. Once the group went on hiatus, Naomi took some time to regress from the music industry and take time for herself as being a apart of one of the highest selling girl groups was not only a dream come true, but also became exhausting. That added with some drama pertaining to it's members at the time, caused Naomi to want to focus on finding her self, take a break and see where life takes her. For two years Naomi nearly faded into obscurity before breaking back out on the scene in 2019, where she become active once again across social media platforms. It didn't take long before Naomi also began making public appearances. In the summer of 2020, Naomi went viral when her dance video of her rendition of PROXIMO's "I Wanna" went trending worldwide after she playfully challenged Gemma Kane to a dance off to the song. Because of this, many fans give Kane and Naomi credit for kicking off the dance sensation, as thousands of video's followed. Naomi posting that video also led to rumors of the singer working on solo music. In August, Naomi appeared at the Fan Choice Awards and was awarded the coveted Sexiest Female award at the 7th Annual Fan Choice Awards. Naomi was also the first African American woman to win the award in the show's history. Following the Fan Choice Awards, Naomi continued to tease new music on Instagram, posting photo's of her hard at work in the studio. It was clear that Naomi was working on something, but no word was given on whether or not it would be a feature, a comeback for the group, or her very own first formal solo music. The announcement finally came in October when HitsDailyDouble reported new Naomi music was imminent. Days later, Naomi posted a picture of her on set of a video and officially confirmed the song when she unveiled the artwork for The Rhythm on Twitter and Instagram in the beginning of November. The eclectic song artwork sent fans into a frenzy, with Cara Zayn and The Wolverines taking to twitter to show their support for the singer in her first official solo release. The Rhythm premiered on November 17th. The Rhythm was recorded in June of 2020 with delays happening in production due to the Coronavirus pandemic. After meeting with U.K production duo The Wolverines in their official recording studio, Naomi and the production duo delved into the initial sound for this piece of R&B and synth-pop along with other songs for her upcoming project. It was very important for Naomi to find the right sound for herself moving forward as she embarks on this new chapter in her life and career. Naomi wanted to create a song and embrace a sound that not only compliments her light, beautifully angelic head voice and tone but could also be a fierce bop that doesn't completely stray away from what people know and love her for. In her first record in which sings completely by her self Naomi is finally able to "spread her wings" vocally and delivers vocals that are sensual and vulnerable, yet taunting and defiant. It some ways it feels triumphant to hear the young star finally sing a song in which she is singing every word by herself, and carving out her own sound for an confirmed upcoming project. The song's production and vocal delivery offers listeners a rush of emotions, as the song production starts off quite moody it's it's cinematic opening that features distorted synths. The song waists no time introducing a cascade of beats that compels you to move your body to the very rhythm of Naomi's vocal delivery over the bass. The Rhythm's beat is fresh and crispy and even evokes 90's rave nostalgia due the anthemic production and thrilling chorus that make itself known when listening to the song. Each verse transfers into the chorus with a with a swoosh of euphoric bass and hypnotic synths mixed with Naomi's angelic, prowling falsetto that does not get lost in the beat. On this Cara Zayn co penned track, Naomi unapologetically sings about love for music, and impact the rhythm has on one's body and soul. Naomi coos Just sit back relax, let the music flow/Draining your body, loving your body/I doubt there will be another round/The feeling that it brings, it overtakes us/Like poison/It fulfills your deepest dreams/Like poison. Another immediate standout from the track is it's outro, where Naomi really lets her vocals shine in the song's outro. Providing listeners with yearning, crystalline vocals as she coos until the the song comes to a stop. "The Rhythm"I got the rhythm in my heart And I’ll let the music do the rest Let the music do the rest
Tonight’s the night Your under my spell (Since you touched me) Your losing yourself (You can't control me)
You feeling the ecstasy? Give it a few seconds, and you'll see And no don't call for a remedy You been wanting this, Now your gonna feel the rhythm in me
You can't even function Your so hypnotized My poison, got you nice and tied You might be hypnotized But baby I'm so energized, And you want me to slow down?
I got the rhythm in my heart And I’ll let the music do the rest Let the music do the rest Music do the rest
Cause I can feel the rhythm, It’s burning through my soul I can feel the music, make me lose control All these smiling faces, singing songs In these familiar places Where I belong Yeah, where I belong Where we all belong
Could you see my hands shaking? When you asked me to dance? It’s nice to feel like someone wants you Even for a little romance Got the rhythm in my heart And I’ll let the music do the rest Let the music do the rest Music do the rest
Just sit back relax, let the music flow Draining your body, loving your body I doubt there will be another round The feeling that it brings, it overtakes us (Like poison) It fulfills your deepest dreams (Like poison)
Cause I can feel the rhythm, It’s burning through my soul I can feel the music, make me lose control All these smiling faces, singing songs In these familiar places Where I belong Yeah, where I belong Where we all belong
All these smiling facing (It's all in the rhythm) The feeling it brings us (It's all in the rhythm) Smiling faces, singing songs (It's all in the rhythm) Oh, no, no baby (It's all in the rhythm) Just sit back, relax (It's all in the rhythm) Draining your body, loving your body Oh, no, no baby (It's all in the rhythm) SOUNDS LIKE:
