Gemma Maddison last night revealed that her and her band, Live Youth, have put plans into motion for an all star, open air gig to raise awareness of Billy Maddison's "wrongful conviction", and also make people "more aware of all the others that have been taken away from their families on little or no evidence, thanks to the incompetence of the british police", Mrs Maddison explained.
Gemma said that "this gig is important because people need to realise just how awful wrongful conviction is. It doesn't just take away a person's freedom, it also strips them of their dignity, self respect and belief in ever living a happy, normal life again. We can't allow this to continue".
The gig is due to take place on Saturday 14th November, followed by a mini gig, highlights video package and protest on parliament square, opposite the houses of parliament on Sunday 15th November.
"I appreciate that this is short notice," Gemma said, "but my husband's freedom, and the freedom of many others, relies on this protest. If we can show just how much support we can get in just one week, imagine how much support we can keep gaining in months, or years, the longer Billy is kept in prison for absolutely no reason. We need to place pressure on both parliament and the police service to make them realise that there needs to be tighter restrictions on the evidence needed to send somebody down for a crime this serious".
