Single: Try Forgiveness (Remix) ft. Kidd Amaze & Tyron Artist: Rum Label: Tric-Jam, Studio60 Records Release Date: February 24th, 2021 Genre: Alternative Hip Hop Written by: Niña Rumillani Tarantino, TJ Cousins, Tyron Jackson Produced by: FancyÑ Length: 4:38
Try Forgiveness is the title track on Rum's debut album, Try Forgiveness. Written and produced all by herself, the title track is a three minute and thirty two seconds long Alternative Hip Hop song featuring a catchy flow rapped over bouncy acoustic guitars, tambourines and a hard-hitting beat. Revealing the album's theme in both the music and the artwork, Rum takes some slight religious undertones and puts her own greedy spin on on them. "With new money comes new rules", the rapper carols, refusing to forgive anyone but willingly putting her feelings aside as so not to jeopardize her cash flow. She compares herself to Catholic saints with plenty of satire and a lot of frustration with how forgiving she is to the people that hurt her the most. The perfect way to introduce such a bold album, the song shows many different sides to Rum, the dangerous side, the godless side, and the side that's driven by money/success.
Initially released as an instant grat track in 2017 for the release of her debut album, Rum returns after a 4 year hiatus with a remix featuring verses from fellow Hip Hop artists Kidd Amaze and Tyron. Throughout her time in Rum & Coke, Rum has had a long history with both of these male rappers. Kidd Amaze and Rum are long time collaborators, once apart of the trio SpitSet with Isaac Lovelock in 2014. Within the same year, Kidd Amaze ended up marrying Coke of Rum & Coke. Though right before her own disappearance Rum has criticized Kidd Amaze's ability to handle Coke's increasing drug problem, it seems that all involved parties have kissed and made up with news of Rum & Coke returning and now a feature between Kidd Amaze and Rum for the first time in 7 years. Then, of course, we have controversial rapper Tyron, formerly known as Big Stacks, on this track as well. Coming in the game beefing with Kidd Amaze and subsequently dissing Rum & Coke in the process because of their alliance to Amaze, Tyron's appearance on this remix is definitely an interesting one. In the past, Kidd Amaze has put Tyron in the hospital for his remarks and it led to the downwards spiral of Tyron's mental health and career, Tyron joining Celebrity Big Brother 4 after the altercation and stabbing himself on live television after Rum's ex Aikya Balan hit him with a frying pan. It has been rumored, though never publicly confirmed, that Rum and Tyron have had their own dangerous run ins following the show. However, after making many enemies, Tyron ended up winning the Hip Hop reality show King's Brawl which was hosted and judged by Rum. This started Tyron's redemption phase where he and Rum began dating despite the advice of everyone close to them. It's not clear if the two were still romantically involved during the disappearance of Rum though they have been spotted together recently with rumors of a possible child in the picture. Needless to say, there is a lot known and unknown of the backstory behind the Try Forgiveness remix. On a song about refusing to forgive unless money is involved, ironically, all 3 rappers have had to come to terms with each other for the sake of their own careers.

What comes around goes around so it goes What, what comes around goes around so it goes Life, life is a circle, it’s a circle, watch it flow Life, life is a circle, it’s a circle, watch it flow Watch it If I turn the cheek, just know my fist is coming I’m tired of the better man, like it’s so becoming Every now and then I wish I could react Like the old me Sometimes I want you do more than hold me, Down you pull me even when your not around Justice, for my kind, equal, you too kind, Like I don’t deserve it, pot meet kettle How the view up on that pedestal Too close to edge and you fall, with the rest of us Hard to say holy when you thinking your the best for us
Only thing keeping me is my ability to reason Never said I wouldn't, just needed a good reason Different strokes for different folks, different plays for different games Personally, I like to keep my values vague, no black and white, just tints of gray They forgive and forget 'cause that's what's easier on the brain Have I ever come off as sane? Forgive and forget, that's what they all say, the go to phrase for all tryna live the right way Do I look like a saint?
We don't let bygones be Wrong one on the right day Saint Paul with the swordplay Cut you off in a few ways Ain't been to church since '03 Saint Rumillani with the footwork Cold blooded with a hellish quirk I don't feel worse, I get worse Saint Patrick, bringing in all this green I guess I'll try forgiveness Before, all I had was my soul to lose With real money comes new rules I'm a big deal, get a clue When I start to relapse, I get reclusive Prone to dumb shit but I aint stupid
Only thing keeping me here is my ability to love Act like I don't care but I care too much All the fighting I do for the people I don't need They never return the favor, won't have to long as I got me You never really cared, okay damn, I got the message Really should ask myself if it's loyalty or obsession Hits me like gravity, dies out faster than an incomplete combustion Always half-assed but without it, can't function (Conjuction junction what's your function?) As always, have at it, want you to be happy Don't be naive, I'll never be sappy (Periodically needy, ultimately too lazy) Sense sensitivity and I start getting snappy I don't ask for much, don't annoy me and you can have me (A little dramatic but nothing too crazy) It's clear I've been running on your mind lately Know you got someone but that chica ain't me Don't be naive, you weren't forgiven, I just never cared If you had just came back, I wouldn't have cared Just forget it
I have given up my dreams This isn’t as easy as it seems You want things to go one way The world wants another It’s pulling at the seams Cash rules everything around me I’m fighting trying to go up stream Up hill, up a waterfall Color me surprised when they said I lost it all Time moves differently When you going through all the faults Living in regret have it eat away Drown in self hatred hoping to take the pain away Or so they say, I rarely listen though Cut off my feeling men shouldn’t be emotional

Would you try for a five? Would you change for some change? Let it be for the green? Keep it cute for a blue strip?
