The recordings for the EP initially started in 2017, actually meant to be for Barbie Doll's debut album. The singer released 2017's "Asleep" [#19] which ended up being a commercial failure and resulted to the album being scrapped. An hiatus followed after and the singer shortly after got removed from her labels page. The singer returned 2020, 3 years later, with "Shut The F*ck Up" - though a hit amongst fans, the single failed to have impact on the charts and became her worst performing song to date. The EP got announced 2021 and the single "Cut You (I Love It)" got released, becoming a major hit - peaking at #3. "So FucXing Pop" marks a change in Barbie Doll's sound - as the title suggests. Being a heavy pop record, the EP still manages to have Barbie Doll's initial Indie Pop sound with songs such as "Bed" and "Damaged Goods". The EP has been completly written by Barbie Doll and produced by herself, Josh Harris and MOON. Barbie Doll has described her new sound during the released of "Cut You (I Love It)", saying that the sound developed during the recording of the single and the desire for something new, fresh and yet 'Barbie Doll'. While the singer hasn't said that it's the sound she's going to stick with going forward, she described it as a fun project and also announced her debut album in 2021. _____________________________ TRACKLIST01. This release is set to rollout Barbie Doll's 3rd EP, "So FuXXing Pop" - shifting her whole sound from her usual Indie/Alternative sound with a rather dark and grimy production to a full-blown Pop sound with a catchy chorus. Lyrically, written by Barbie Doll, the song stays truthful to a Barbie Doll song, aligning with previous records such as "Dead" and "Shut The F*ck Up". Barbie Doll on "Cut You (I Love It)" during it's release: 'There's really no deeper meaning to the lyrics, but I have to say this song was written before we even had a concept in mind. I wanted to touch upon my previous release "Dead", though I also wanted this one to be unique. That's how we ended up with a completely different sound, going full-blown Pop, almost even Bubblegum Pop in the chorus. We wanted it to be catchy and yet a true song that will automatically make you think about the brand that is Barbie Doll. With that vision, we ended up with an whole EP with pop music, and this song will be released beforehand to introduce that sound.
