The Nimrods have once again came back out of nowhere with their newest single "Divine Purification" The single has received much critical acclaim due to the maturity to the songs. The band is at their best here, with Kit Saunders earning the nickname "The Atomic Clock". Critics have noticed the several time and dynamic changes in the songs by The Nimrods and have seen Saunders play perfectly in each time shift. His blast beats are more complex than the simple hammering of his peers and contain triplets on his bass drum under his snare and cymbal hits. His tribal beats are also relatively unmatched. The single discusses how preachers and clergymen are always trying to "save" people while in reality it is indeed them who are in need of saving. Jimmy's vocals vary from a pith changing growl to crooning in the song and he uses lots of octave riffs guitar wise with a short solo. Davey's bass work is as good as ever with lots of fast runs using only his fingers.Kit's drumming has gotten more intricate with lots of poly rhythms and the keyboards in the song are haunting and match some of the guitar. The band considers the song a masterpiece and it has gotten them bigger in South America which they are now touring. |
