This is kinda stupid, but is it better to have more ability or more songwriting?

Its best to have them both high, for example if your trying to get your songs to get ratings close to 100, you might want both songwriting and ability in 100. If you have songwriting 100 and ability 30, then its more likely your song will be rated in the low 90's or high 80's. It's also best to have ability over 100, to increase the chances of getting a rating of 100. But remember try to use your points wisely.

As Steph said, both need to be an ideal 100 for highly-rated songs.

I had a band (before the updates and stuff) that got a 100 rating with low ability and songwriting :). I guess I was lucky.

Oh yeah you can get spaz anomalies like that from the game though I'm not sure the formula behind it. I had a couple of those before.

When I had like 90 ability and 80 songwritting with The Violent Pyromaniac Enemies, I was able to write 2 songs rated 100.
With The Prisoners, I have 111 in ability and 100 in songwritting and can't get a 100 rating song.
I think the game hates The Prisoners.
I own:

Andrew Guinnard (Post-punk/acoustic)
Lucy Tankeray (Pop diva/weird)

Yeah. It happened on the old version of the game too. It was extremelly hard for me to get an 100 song with The Prisoners, but easy with others.

I don't really care if my records don't sell, I like roleplaying more then having big sales, high chart positions and such. Although I haven't played that much for the last two months or so, school takes op all my time.

Me its the complete opposite, I think the charts is the only reason I play the game otherwise I would just be in the forums. It's so much fun to find out my single is #8 in the us and #1 in the UK, its fun to see that my single's sales have exceeded 1,000,000. You know what I mean?

Songwriting combines raw ability with creativity. It's about capturing emotions and stories through lyrics and melody. The best songwriters can turn simple ideas into something deeply relatable and memorable. Keep honing.
