“Permanent Vacation”



It had been almost an entire year since Amy-Jayne and Jadyn Ghalen were first introduced to each other, an unlikely pair as evidenced by their unwillingness to commit to each other exclusively, they had an understanding that their worlds were very different from each other and had accepted early on that they will both lead separate lives from each other. Amy-Jayne, a mother balancing parenting with a hugely successful solo career and Jadyn Ghalen a young hip-hop star with the world and all of it’s excessive trappings falling at his feet. Despite all of this, it was undeniable how much they had fun together and what was supposed to be a brief one-night thing has somehow turned into an arrangement that worked for both of them.

An agreement that exclusivity wasn’t ever going to be on the cards for them at this different stage of their lives and any suggestion of exclusivity would only lead to disappointment and anger. The decision was made that since they have fun together, their connection physically was one that neither wanted to draw a line under that they would find time for each other where possible. Historically phrases have been thrown around like “friends with benefits” and “fuck buddies”, they had agreed to call this thing between them a “permanent vacation” with the proviso that they remain close to each other, enjoying each other’s company during these periods where they’re able to find time for each other in their busy crazy lives but allowing each other to pursue their own things separately. Jadyn knew that Amy had been let down previously and if a serious commitment were to develop between them, it would be the same situation once more which is something he wanted to avoid. He admired Amy greatly as a person, she was an incredibly dedicated mother who put her family ahead of everything else but also managed to balance a career, but it was their physical connection that made it difficult for Jadyn to truly ‘quit her’

At his home in the Hollywood Hills, Jadyn lay in bed as the California sun shone brightly through the windows of his room, accentuation the natural beauty of Amy’s face as she lay beside him, her head resting softly on his chest. They had met up multiple times with each other over the past year, primarily at his Villa in Miami, Florida and various hotel rooms around the country. But this was the first time Amy had spent a substantial amount of time at Jadyn’s home in California. A sacred place for him, where his career and lifestyle is very much on full display. Usually the hub of excessive parties, with various people crashing at his place almost on a permanent basis. However, he had made it clear that this timeframe with Amy-Jayne in town was a time fully dedicated to her, for all intents and purposes it was just the two of them, no outsiders or friends hanging around in his home.
He brushed Amy’s hair to one side, getting a clear view of her face and gave her a smile as she lay there, “I don’t think our lives have ever been this calm for a long damn time.” He says, taking in the peacefulness surrounding them. He was always drawn to the chaos of his world, but enjoyed these small moments of serenity and contemplation.
