OOC: Hey all! Didn't want to or think I'd be doing this in 2025 but it seems we have tactical voting again. Not going to name and shame. Hopefully this message does its intended job and opens up some eyes. This is a small forum as it is. We've been struggling in numbers and activity since around 2017/18 with flurries of activity cropping up here and there. We're currently in a mini-renaissance period, experiencing more creativity and interactivity than we have in years. It's only March and we've had a bunch of albums - more than some entire years have provided!
So, with that said, PLEASE be a little more considerate in your voting. If you're not a particular fan of a certain style, that's fine. I just don't like seeing bias and tactical voting taking place. We're all adults with lives outside of here. We don't HAVE to create whole albums on our own during our personal downtime but we do. We do because we enjoy it, want to share it, and wish to keep this small but mighty forum alive. Seeing so many new projects and songs over the last few weeks receive 500 points in their opening week is disheartening and comes across as mean. It's even worse when users are purposely voting down brand new projects and then giving their own, old projects 100,000 points. It's giving 2013/14 vibes and I thought we were past that.
Again, not saying you have to LOVE everything that everybody releases but please be mindful. People put a lot of effort into creating work on here both in terms of the actual work and the time they carve out to focus on it. You don't *HAVE* to give every new release the highest points in your voting, but don't PURPOSELY try to dumb down its chances of a good debut week while voting for your own personal, much older works which have already been appreciated in the past and received their moments in the sun.
Hopefully won't have to address this again and I don't wish to sound like a nag. It's supposed to be a fun place. Let's keep it that way!
