I'm thankful for being an atheist and therefore not having to thank anyone for the things I have, but myself and my parents.
I own:

Thanksgiving for me is almost always spent at my aunt's house with very close family members. Not really anything big since Christmas Eve is the big party for my family at least.

Yep, I know for a fact is a huge part of our culture to celebrate it :)

Your a very difficult person to please.

Maybe you're just easy to please?

You want me to name a better recent American sitcom than How I Didn't Meet Your Mother and Then Eventually Did Meet Your Mother After an Indeterminate Number of Years of Generic Comical Situations Dictated by the Ongoing Success of This Show? Arrested Development, The Office, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Scrubs, Futurama... Those shows have been innovative, while How I Met Your Mother is a generic sitcom whose supposedly interesting premise has long since ceased to factor into the show, and it's just another me-too sitcom. I'm going out of my way here to avoid saying it's bad, because I haven't seen enough of it to make that call, but I have seen enough to gauge the level of humour and the overall production value, and it's the kind of stuff that makes Will & Grace look like the work of a storytelling mastermind. The problem to me isn't one of it being bad, it's one of it being just mediocre, nothing special one way or the other. If that's what people like then fair enough, but if that means funnier, more ambitious shows like Arrested Development, after two and a half seasons of awards and continuous critical acclaim, gets cancelled while a cheap, mundane live-audience sitcom keeps on running into it's fifth year, that just leaves me baffled. Aren't people sick to death of this kind of sitcom already?

I loved all of the shows you mentioned (Scrubs, Arrested Development, etc.) although you forgot Seinfeld and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, I guess Curb Your Enthusiasm is a solid replacement though.

I did not forget Seinfeld, I omitted it due to its age. I tried to limited it to this decade. I've been going back through my Seinfeld DVDs recently actually, which always fun. Although I'm now on Season 7 so I'm past the peak. Something odd about Seinfeld is how few people in this country even know about it. We never got it. Friends and Frasier were the two big sitcom imports of the 90s (and 2000s), Seinfeld used to run on BBC2 near midnight, and I remember a good ten years or so ago first seeing it and being confused as to what it was, especially since the episode I saw was the one where time runs backwards.

Never seen It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, CYE is the only running sitcom I currently watch regularly. I'm also a massive fan of Monk, but that's really kind of a hybrid comedy detective drama though so I didn't include it. Only three more episodes left. Sigh...

I'm going to Oakland to see my family. Boring.
Too much leather chair is unsightly and greatly increases your risk of leather-smell.

Excuse me, but what the fuck did he do wrong there?

ANYWAY, whats the whole point of thanksgiving anyway? Surely you just say thanks for everything, the contradict it by greedily stuffing your face full of food whilst people in poverty are dying every minute?

hella sad because it makes for a really short speech before the feast.... then again, I don't really have anything to be truly thankful for, due to every good thing in my life being fucked up in the end.

Welcome to this world. But just because good things come to an end, doesn't mean you shouldn't be thankful.

um, that logic would have made sense if I didn't mean that the fact that the good things were bad things in reality that really affects the decision to be thankful.
