PopCrave: In an exclusive interview with Vanity Fair, Layla Sanchez spoke candidly about her reclusive ex-boyfriend Joshua Grimmie and their relationship nowadays. Sanchez claims that Grimmie is "doing well" but is "disappointed" in some of his friends for distancing themselves from him during his recovery. Joshua almost lost his life to a heroin overdoes in 2021 and has remained out of the spotlight since.

"He's doing well. I make sure of it. There's a small, tight-knit group of us around him that prioritise his welfare. Despite the shift in relationship dynamic, Joshua will always be one of my favorite people. He's the kindest soul and brightest mind. A lot of people tend to forget that not only is he one of the good ones, but a human being at the core of it. Someone who needs love, to feel wanted and included."

"Pretty much since the start of his career, as a literal teenager, he was outcast and ostracized. He spoke the truth, heavy-handedly, but the truth nonetheless. Not a lot of people rode for him because they'd much rather fall in favor with the media and not be associated with "damaged goods". Post-overdose, it culled off even more of his inner circle. I'm disappointed in a lot of people who washed their hands of him at his lowest. Joshy was slowly becoming persona non grata and you can't do that to a person. As humans we all yearn for a sense of belonging and purpose. People used him for the memes, the TV ratings, the clicks, the blockbuster songs that got us all through the pandemic then dropped him when the going got tough."
