Captain Insano wrote:Better start dressing badly and a shitty haircut then...bit hard with a shaven head though. Off to the hair salon I go. Nah, but to be serious, I think when people talk about metalcore they associate it with bands like As I Lay Dying and Bring Me The Horizon, which in my opinion are two of the worst groups to ghrace the planet. Some real metalcore is 'The Fall Of Ideals' by All That Remains, 'The Art Of Balance' by Shadows Fall and 'Ascendancy' by Trivium (possibly greatest metalcore album of all time). I'm not a huge fan of Avenged Sevenfold's earlier albums, but 'City of Evil' is a beast, although thats not really metalcore. Also, Triviums recent album 'Shogun' isn't really metalcore, but it kicks serious ass also. Just my opinion. I don't like great artists being associated with rather shitty bands who try to imitate the latest fad. All of this put aside, I'd blast out some In Flames or Black Dahlia Murder or even Lazarus A.D. (great new thrash band) long before I'd touch any metalcore.

No see, when I'm being disparaging about metalcore Trivium are probably the first band to come to mind. God I hate their music so much. "BOAT! RUDDER! STRANGE! MOUNTAIN!"
Errr, BDM ARE a metalcore band.
Also of all the metalcore groups I've heard, I think the only two I've come remotely close to liking are Hatebreed (so fucking tedious, can't listen to a whole album but it's OK in tiny doses) & God Forbid. |

I'd put TBDM at the furthest end of the spectrum of metalcore. Stuff like 'Nocturnal' I'd consider melodic death metal. |

Now here's a band that on paper I should hate with a passion, but actually, to my genuine surprise, I find myself enjoying them:

I like the music I like, and you can like yours. Okay? Great! And speaking of metalcore, I covered a really good underground band a few weeks ago. Original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZYCvHfpw9gMy Cover: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8vIW5waESYSkip to about 30 seconds in. EDIT: Excuse the headbanging. I make an ass of myself every video I make. -.- Edited by user 21 November 2009 10:06:19(UTC)
