Back in 2003, Mario Abraham had temporarily left Toute Rancune and recorded this gem. under the monikker of Abraham, he explored a side previously unheard by him. Where Toute Rancune was robust and expansive, Abraham was minimalistic and intimate. Often accompanied only by himself on an acoustic guitar, Abraham stripped itself from TR's distorted and detuned walls of sound, scoring a minor hit with Still June In July.  Now, The Art Department is re-releasing this gem on June, 19. Abraham will be available on digital file, CD, LP and a limited edition cream coloured 2LP with a bonus-EP containing 2 extra songs from the recording sessions. Erich: like most decent people,I already have an original copy. But I am a sucker for pretty round things and this vinyl is no exception. Now I'm not saying I was thinking Mario went on his own again and was practicing throwing a bolo around people's legs to keep them from running...but I did. Special thanks to some gullible interns from Permanent reminder for being such good sports and for not keeping up with the news. I haven't dated their boss in years. Shhhh.

Micah [Erich Hess' eldest son]: I became aware of this album in recent years with my dad spinning his original copy. Took me a while to realise and make the Toute Rancune connection as this is really far removed from that soundscape! Have grown to become quite the fan of this record and I'm so glad I'll be able to own a copy for myself! |
