I love 90s rock. Yes, it's mainly because of the late 90s alternative rock artists in the US. I'm just interested if anybody else here likes 90s rock.

If so, who are your top five 90s rock artists? What was your favorite song of the era? Do you think that rock music will ever have another genre as mellow and cool genre?

Well, my top five favorite bands from the time are the verve pipe, matchbox twenty (really anything with Rob Thomas), third eye blind, oasis, and green day. My favorite song of the era would have to be a tie between "Push" by matchbox twenty and "The Freshmen" by the verve pipe. Maybe one day, there will be a genre as cool and mellow as 90s alternative rock, but I think i'll be too grown up to listen to pop music by then.

I love 90s rock so much, it was so much different. In the 50s it was rock'n roll, in the sixties it was more popish and surfish, in the 70s it was progressive, in the 80s it was hair metal and synth pop, the 90s was so much different forms of alternative.

my top bands would be in no order
Green Day
Nirvana
Weezer
Pearl Jam
U I dont really have another consistent favorite, I like various songs from each artist

my favorite song however would be "Bound for the Floor" by Local H I looked for it for 2 years before i found it.

I wanted to add Santana to the list, but he wasn't really alternative rock. Plus, his popularity was kinda mixed betweeen 1999-2000, so didn't know if I should've added it.

R.E.M. (yes I know they were around well before the 90s but still)
STP or Soundgarden either one
Sonic Youth
The Smashing Pumpkins
Rage Against the Machine

My favorite band period is the Chili Peppers also a big 90s band

Favorite song is between Disarm by The Smashing Pumpkins, Kool Thing by Sonic Youth, or Losing My Religion by R.E.M.

For me, the best band to come out of the late 90s is Slipknot. Dancing
