Although not what you would consider metal, I got the new Atreyu album while in San Fransisco.
Eh, not bad. |

They have a couple of good songs, i.e. "The Test That Stumped Them All" and "Sacrificed Sons" but other than that, nyeeeh. |

Aqua is by far the greatest metal band of all time!!! lol jk
I'm not a big fan of metal, but here are some of my favorites: Deadsoul Tribe, Apocylptica, Rammstein (don't really like their new album though), Early-Metallica, My Bitter Death, Iron Maiden and that's it.
Oh, and how could I forget DETHKLOK!!!! lol adult swim |

The only recording worth hearing are the 1990 audition tapes with FATES WARNING's John Arch on vokills. But then again, every band would kill if John Arch would sing for them. John Arch era FATES WARNING >> every modern "progressive metal" band

John Arch era FATES WARNING >> every modern "progressive metal" band Symphony X? Haven't listened to them in ages. I bought "The Divine Wings of Tragedy" when it came out in '97, and I liked it quite a bit. A few years later, in 2002 or 2003 I believe, I bought "The Odyssey", which was also pretty good, but I haven't listened to them since. But that said, early FATES WARNING still absolutely fucking destroy. I could go on for hours and hours how amazing they were. "The Spectre Within" and "Awaken the Guardian" are milestones of heavy metal that every selfrespecting metal fan should own.

Also, just got tickets for the Slayer/Megadeth tour with Testament. It'll most likely kick ass. Just gotta pray they've been practicing for the tour though, cause the Seattle stop is their first gig.

Been on a DEATH SS kick all day now. The early 80s stuff and the first three LPs are Italian metal classics. Too bad they started playing retarded industrial crap after that.

meh, I'm a fan of music pretty much in general... but my metal band list: As I lay Dying Advent Aletheian(not such a fan of the black metal vocals..) The Ascendicate(ex:The7Method) Becoming the Archetype Blessed by a Broken Heart(some songs, not most) Blessthefall(both Craig and Beau included, although craig does have more ability than technique imo) Blindside(they were alt-metal at a time, remember?) The Chariot(before the gay vocalist switch) The Crucified Decyfer Down(again alt-metal in a bit of a way) Demon Hunter(cliche... I'll admit my favor for their music has dwindled since their last album) Destroy the Runner(liked Saints and only tracks 1&2 of I, Lucifer) The Devil Wears Prada(their latest doesn't seem as catchy, but definitely is more technical) Disciple(lol, they were groove metal in the beginning, now more of a nu-metal thing) Dead Poetic(not entirely impressed by their music, but there's something enchanting about it..) Emery(post-hardcore..) Eso-Charis(the band that birthed the legendary LS) Extol(definitely the best norwegian christian metal example) Falling Up(vocalist can't growl or scream for shit, but collaborations and some tracks have sounded decent) The Famine(just amazing..) Gwen Stacy(decent metalcore) Haste the Day(best albums were Pressure the Hinges and Dreamer) Inhale Exhale(catchiest metalcore imo) Jonah33(some but not most) Living Sacrifice(words do not explain the awesomeness they've paved for christian metal) Mychildren Mybride(vocalist seems gender confused) Norma Jean(decent imo, but not one of my faves) Pillar(nu-metal throughout albums, excluding their first and independent release) P.O.D.(rapcore, nu-metal) Project 86(nu-metal) RED(nu-metal) Seventh Seal(new unsigned and pretty epic) Seven System(jewish?) The Showdown(screwed up on second album, but got more brutal on their third attempt) Since October(metalcorish) Skillet(somewhat symphonic metal) Soul Embraced(melodic death metal) Staple(sadly disbanded before their prime) Theocracy(THEY added me to their friends list..) Thousand Foot Krutch(nu-metal) Trenches(what Haste the Day should've sounded like when they started) Underoath(listened to, but honestly could care less..) War of Ages(so freaking epic) Brian HEAD Welch(you guys have to know who he is) Zao(not really into the vocals, but everything else is near apocalyptic)
The secular...... well it differs from time to time.
