Rumours have been flying around the internet for the past 24 hours after Dean Keller posted 3 songs on his official website.
The songs were free to download for 24 hours, before "you'd have to pay for it". Fans could also download a single sleeve, with a personal message from Dean, reading "These songs are for the three most important women in my life. Mum: I hope I make you proud. Shorna: I know I've been driving you crazy, and I have my own relationship issues, but hopefully after hearing this you'll understand why, even if you can't accept it. I'm sorry. And the other girl... well, she knows who she is, and she knows exactly why I had to do this. Dean xxx"

The songs are a world away from anything we expected 25 year old Dean to release. Again, true to the claims that sometimes "others can sum up my feelings better than I can", Dean has posted two covers, and one original song, but claimed he is not concerned about the covers as "this is just something I had to do. I'm not planning on a whole solo career, so I don't worry about having to come out with something spectacular. I just needed to record something to get out what I've had trapped inside me for a couple of years now. Plus, I don't have many of my own songs. Anything great I write, I give to the band because that's my career. I want to make it clear I definitely do NOT intend on becoming a solo artist or releasing an album, or anything like that".

Stepping away from his alt. rock / alt. metal image, Dean's tracks are ballads about heartbreak, unrequited love and confusion, in the form of the classic "I Can't Make You Love Me", a cover from a brand new album "Whataya Want From Me?" and original song "Incomplete".

"I could not believe this was actually Dean singing when I heard it! I know that in Rebel Uprising and Live Youth he has a deep, gravelly kind of growl to his voice, but I mean... his voice actually sounds beautiful on these songs, and I did not realise he could sing so high and PULL IT OFF, which he has done... wow," one fan commented.

"This is actually so sad. You can tell Dean is singing straight from the heart and I could really feel his pain. I always thought he was a total player, I can't believe a girl has actually managed to hurt him like that. And he said he's wanted to get this out for years?! What girl can keep a guy like Dean hanging on for years?!?! It's really sad :-(" another said.

When asked about his voice in the tracks, Dean simply laughed and said he "liked to surprise people" and claimed to have "multiple voices for [his] multiple personalities" and "a hell of a lot of recording and rerecording". He also added that "I love to play around in the studio, creating new sounds and experimenting with different sounds, but it never makes the band because it doesn't fit us at all. I like to be creative with bits of every type of music though, so I had fun creating this, even though I was left very vulnerable. I also realise that one of these songs has only just been released, but I heard it being streamed online before its release and it was perfect so I had to steal it! Hopefully people will like it, then go to hunt down the original version!!"

When asked if the rest of the band had heard the songs, Dean revealed that "the rest of the band have, but Gemma hasn't heard it yet. Hopefully she'll like it. She's always encouraged me to sing more, so... I hope she doesn't find it totally inappropriate".

Check out the video and lyrics below!!

I Can't Make You Love Me

An unofficial fan video posted by Dean, who later said "this is why I don't sing more often... the feminine actions and the fact I'm bricking it the entire time..."

Whataya Want From Me

(OOC: I know about the video, but I'm bored of just posting lyrics of songs most of you guys probably have never heard of, so I'm making it a little easier for you to get the idea :-) Happy days!)

If you do ever start thinking about going solo, i'd love to play guitar on some of the tracks for you.
Your a real talent and i think you should think about doing a solo album in the future.

OOC: Did you? Not really been paying much attention to threads lately cos I've not had much time, but the few I have looked at I've not seen any pics of him up or anything, but I was gonna give Dean an image change soon anyway cos I'm bored of describing him the same way all the time, lol.

Dean Keller's first (and apparently only) solo single has sold fantastically well in its first week of release, going top ten in both the UK and Europe and looks set to climb. Sales are also strong in the US and Canada - just missing out on the top 20 and it is likely the chart positions will climb next week, making the 25 year old Live Youth guitarist almost as successful as his band, considering many fans downloaded free versions of the song before it went on official sale. Live Youth's only number 1 single remains to be 'Hermaphrodite Whore', a song written about "gender bender" Miss Vanity. Congratulations to Dean, and we'll keep you updated on his chart progression.
