not the world's biggest punk fan, there's an awful lot of crap out there. the whole movement makes for a good story though, i have that one book but i can't remember the name (it's the one with the heartbreakers on the cover wearing bloodstained shirts). here are the punk groups i listen to:

bikini kill
blondie
the clash (early)
dead kennedys
the fall
the germs
half japanese
the heartbreakers
richard hell
new york dolls
ramones
the replacements
patti smith
sex pistols
siouxsie & the banshees
the slits
the stooges
the stranglers
teenage head
wire

and yeah some might be leaning more towards postpunk, but they're great anyway.
or maybe not

No, just how can you say that people don't exploit and and make it lame and 'gay' like pop-punk?

Blink 182, All Time Low, Fall Out Boy, Good Charlotte, Hellogoodbye, Jacks Mannequin, Mc Fly, Panic! At The Disco, Paramore, You Me At Six are ALL Pop-Punk artists and are extremely successful, of course people make it 'gay' like pop-punk.

Postpunk is amazing too. Kudos specially for Bikini Kill, hard to find people that like them.

Well, I didn't expect him/her to like Shakira with that name :P
I own:

Andrew Guinnard (Post-punk/acoustic)
Lucy Tankeray (Pop diva/weird)

I sounded a bit of a nob when I said that. Oh well, my point was that people do make pop punk and lots of people do.

Yes, and his point, made ineloquently I grant you, is that he doesn't particularly like pop-punk, and he then followed it by saying he lives in a world where the mainstream is popular. Which is essentially saying that he lives in a world where popular things are popular which is hilarious, but still, his point was largely that he doesn't like pop-punk as it's not particularly punk. Where as you then reply "lots of people like X" which seems to be the standard reply on this forum and completely misses the point of music really. So what if someone else likes it? He doesn't. And it's not particularly "punk". And he's right, I mean while I won't argue that Sex Pistols weren't manufactured, they still had some sort of sense of danger to them which you can hardly attach to fucking McFly or Paramore. I've had more dangerous jobbies.

I mean like it or not, a large part of punk is the aesthetic, the mind-set. Which can be at times counter-productive (the instant harping on about selling out for example) but has also spawned many, many great things in music. I mean it was the punk scene that was largely responsible for the rise of independent record labels.

No, what he said was that people no longer make pop punk because punk is dead, which is completely wrong, so I gave some examples of popular pop punk bands.

:-\ I have no idea where you are getting that from.

"Holy shit punk is dead! There barely is a 2nd page on this thread... But I think it's better off dead, that way no one exploits it or makes it lame and gay like pop-punk and shit like that."

He's saying that esssentially REAL punk is dead. And perhaps that's a good thing because it's been milked to death by shitty "gay" (I'd not use that myself) pop-punk music.

No where does he state that pop-punk is no longer around. Your reading comprehension needs some work.

We probably should. Forkboy's right, that is what I was trying to say, but what I was thinking was that because REAL punk is dead there probably wont be anyone else who would make it gay.. So let me rephrase what I said:

Holy shit punk is dead! There barely is a 2nd page on this thread... But I think it's better off dead, that way no one ELSE exploits it or makes it lame and gay like pop-punk and shit like that. And there probably wont be any NEW crap out there that makes punk look like it was made by tasteless morons

Oh yeah let me just say, I have a new forum profile now. I use filthy for my roleplay now. And Raphaela, I'm a guy, just a response to the him/her not liking Shakira thing... And fucking hate Shakira.. Also, I have a different band on this email, so if you see any roleplay posts from Blister that appear as a Metal band, that's me

But still call me Filthy if you want, I just didnt want to mix up my profiles, so whatever

I'm more of a cunt than an arse tbf. But I wasn't an arse or cunt in this instance. You wouldn't even accept that you might have been wrong in your interpretation.

I was joking, and referring to your arrogance in being right. It just seemed to me that he was saying no one makes pop punk any more.
