Just wanted to update everyone on what is going on. First off we are extremely excited to see that Daybreak has hit #24 on the US charts. It is great to have a debut EP that generates that kind of buzz. We are writing this update from the studio, the songs are all written for the debut album and we even have the album titled, Welcome to the Wasteland. Over the next few weeks we are going to be releasing some studio takes of from the debut album sessions on the website, culminating in the release of a streaming version of the album available for listen the day before the album launch.

We just want to thank all of our fans who went out and bought a copy of our debut album Welcome to the Wasteland and helped push it to a #5 DEBUT IN THE US AND #11 IN THE UK with combined 1st week sales at 62,485 copies. We have just made the album available for streaming online so if you haven't heard it yet what are you waiting for? We have a couple appearances on the late night talk show circuit this week to do some promotional stuff for the album and then after that we are planning to return to the studio. We may do a few live shows, but right now we are in a really good spot creatively and do not want to stop recording or writing. Again, thanks so much to our fans for making our debut hit so high on the charts.

Just got done recording the B-sides for the first single off the debut album. The single is Section 10: Survivors and it was chosen for its upbeat pop-radio friendly sound. We also put a couple covers we did on it. The first one is Dreaming of You which is a cover of a song by The Coral, if you haven't heard this one before here is a link to the original version. Click Me! The second cover is one we expect everyone to know, Roxanne by The Police. Of course if you haven't heard it, here is link. Click Me! The single is also up and available for listening online so check it out.

Album 2 and the next EP
by Tim Dunn

Mike and I are heading back into the studio to begin recording our next album and EP. Both of them are going to continue the Axiom Saga from where it ended in Welcome to the Wasteland. The EP is going to serve as a bridge between the debut and the next album. Specifically, story wise the bridge will take us from the formation of the plan to halt the advancement of the Meta to the preparation and execution of the plan. The saga is actually moving a little more quickly than we first imagined and instead of 5 albums and 3 EPs we might get a trilogy of albums and 3 EPs. We are working on doing some live shows, but it is difficult for the two of us to replicate our music live since we each play and are responsible for so many parts. We may hire some touring musicians to help us out but we haven't found people we would want to spend 6 months with on tour.

Money and Labels
by Mike Peck

Well we are getting down to business with the album and it is not pretty. Since we haven't been able to find a label we have to finance the record ourselves and that includes the expensive distribution and marketing aspects. I hate worrying about the financial situation when I want to be in the studio concentrating on the music. With as well as our last album did we figured some level of label interest would be headed our way but we just haven't got a single nibble. Tim is laying down some guitar tracks right now and when he is done I think I have to go do some vocals. The second EP is almost finished although without label support we may have to do a limited run of it since we would like to focus our funds on distributing the album. We will make sure to get the EP up online for streaming as quickly as we can so anyone who wants to hear it can hear it. I am really happy with the way this EP has turned out, we tried some different recording techniques and I like what they have done to the overall sound and vibe. I don't want to tell you anymore about it, you will just have to hear it.

Hunter EP and the next album
by Mike Peck

For all of you who were curious, we just released our next EP, Hunter, and have put a streaming version of all the tracks on the website in the music section. It contains Sections 14-16. If you are lucky enough to find a copy of it at your local record store with the original cover grab it, we only made about 150,000 of those, and they contain a special message from Tim and I. The next album is coming along real nicely as well. We have like 4 tracks completely finished and have another 2 or 3 that are almost done. We have also come up with a title for the new album, Wasteland Survivor's Guide. Expect the album to hit stores in mid-December, hopefully in time for Mashfest.

Sophomore Album Release Date and Other Stuff
by Tim Dunn

So we have some great news from the studio. The second album is finished and is scheduled for release on Wednesday December 9, 2009. We have also decided to rename the album, the original title was something we wanted to save for the future. The new title for the album is Tales of a Wasteland Hero. Expect the first reviews of the album up early next week. We are also going to put the album up online for listening for a special preview on Tuesday December 8, 2009 for two hours from 5 PM to 7PM EST. All you need to access the preview is a membership to our website. We hope you guys enjoy this album as much as we enjoyed recording it.

On another note we are working out details for some live shows, our first since before the Daybreak EP. Just to forewarn you however, these won't be us playing the songs on the albums, we don't want to hire touring band members and cannot reproduce our studio sound with two people live. Instead we are doing a kind of, I guess you may call it side-project, but we still call ourselves Axiom. Mike and I are going to be doing some acoustic guitar/piano duet shows. We are going to be at Midwinter Mashfest and are also working out details to open for PANIC! on some dates on the U.S. leg of there final tour before their hiatus. These are going to be fun and relaxed shows that will let us play some new material that isn't part of the Axiom Saga as well as some fun covers. For tickets to either event check the links below.

PANIC!-Somebody's Gonna Miss Us Tour P.S. A lot of the PANIC! dates are sold out or close to it so if you want a ticket you better get over there quick.

Where is the new album?
by Tim Dunn

If you haven't noticed by now Tales of a Wasteland Hero was not released on December 9th as originally planned. We ran into some serious distribution problems with the album. Since we are still releasing our work independently we have to handle all facets of the release, including the distribution. We had a major disagreement with our original distributor about the cut from the sales they were in line to receive. Things are being worked out and the album should be available on Tuesday December 15th.

In response to the problems we are having managing the band, distribution, and actually writing and recording the music we have begun to look into the creation of a company whose sole purpose is to take care of the business aspects of the band, a manager if you will. Mike and I will still have full control, we aren't selling out or going corporate or anything like that, but hiring capable people to run the business side of Axiom will give Mike and I the opportunity to focus on the music. You won't see any changes in the band's style, image, sound, or anything else as a result of this new development. We are still going to be open and responsive to label interests, the backing of a major record label will be a huge help to us. However, labels interested in signing us will have to work closely with our management group to ensure our needs are being met.

Our first #1
by Tim Dunn

First of all we want to thank every fan who went out and made our new album Tales of a Wasteland Hero reach #1 in the US and #3 in the UK. The support you give us is fantastic and we are glad to have fans like you. To celebrate what you have done for us we are going to offer free downloads of the b-sides released with our first two singles as well as a bunch of studio demos and outtakes from the recording sessions for Tales of a Wasteland Hero. All you need to access the downloads is to pop the CD into your computer and open the bonus content on it. There is a button there that says "Take me to Axiom's Official Website" that will take you to the website and unlock the download section for all the bonus content.

Of course if you haven't heard by now the sophomore album, Tales of a Wasteland Hero was released as well as the first single from the album, Section 26: Hope Dawns. Both of them are up on the website for you to stream in the music section. It already looks like this album is going to shatter the sales numbers for Welcome to the Wasteland. We hope you are all enjoying the album and will give you some more news about what's next when the release fever for the album calms a bit.

Blogging from Mashfest
by Mike Peck

So we are at Mashfest right now and going through some last minute stuff like finalizing the setlist and some other small stuff. The set we are doing is all acoustic guitar and piano and will feature the debut of a whole lot of new songs. Depending on the Mashfest policies we hope to present a live online stream of the show and get the performance video archived online for future viewing. For those of you who will be there to watch us perform we hope you enjoy us and the rest of the awesome mashfest lineup.

As far as our next step, we are stepping away from the Axiom Saga. There is one album left to do but we are going to move away and record some other stuff for our next album. We aren't ready to tell you exactly what we are planning yet but it will be decidedly different from the other stuff we have done.

Roots
by Tim Dunn

Ok so our next album will be called Roots. It is going to a be a cover album going back to our musical roots as it were. There are going to be covers of groups like the Beatles, the Black Keys, the Stones, Zeppelin, and other bands that have inspired our musical style. It is actually finished and is being pressed as we speak, we have a release date of January 20th. We hope you all enjoy a look into what inspires our music.

Updates and some other info
by Tim Dunn

Ok so Roots did not do as well as we had hoped. Mike and I both felt that we put a lot of our energy, heart, and soul into that album. We are moving past that. The new single The Auto Effect has done quite well both commercially and critically. We are also working on writing the conclusion to the "Axiom Saga" and that record should be out sometime in around the end of April or early May.

The most exciting news for us is that Mike and I are working on creating a jazz combo. Focusing on creating a small sextet or septet. The the plan is to have Mike on piano and then I will fill in wherever needed. We are looking to get a drummer, bassist, trumpeter, tenor and alto saxes, and a guitarist. We will have more info when we get more concrete work done.
