Okay, before I get moaned at for this going in the wrong section, the reason why I've put it here in the 'debate' section is cos, well, basically people have not stopped talking about Adam Lambert or this performance since it happened, so I was curious as to people's thoughts here?
Was it "disgusting", or was it "entertainment"?

Personally, I love Adam, and have done since I first saw him audition for American Idol, and I loved this performance! Yes, it was a little racy but people need to remember that this was a LATE NIGHT awards show, in which the audience should all be adults and I thought it was pretty entertaining! I also really don't get the big deal people are making of the kiss... he kissed a guy... who cares?!?!

I don't believe there was anything shockingly inappropriate in the performance that rational, mature adults could moan about - particularly to the extent they have been doing. A sexual song needs a sexual performance and if people can't accept that they should grow up.

Does anybody agree? Disagree? And why? Discuss. :-)

I'm crossed here...but he still is one of the best voices I have ever heard so that makes up for any thing else.

And that's the way it should be... It makes me laugh hearing these other people saying they don't like Adam, won't buy his album now. And why? Because of that performance. I'm just like are you serious?! That's beyond sad, lol! The man is crazily talented, and his new album is fantastic. That's what people should focus on, not that one performance out of hundreds is not to their taste.
To be honest, I didn't watch the IMAs, I just caught Adam's and Daughtry's performances. I love both of them to pieces, but I preferred Adam's. Chris' voice was flawless - as usual, but there was no energy to it. I know as a band they can't "perform" as Adam can, but it was just straight singing and playing. Adam's voice wasn't the best I've heard it but there was a show and my eyes did not leave the screen from beginning to end. At the end of the day, if I wanted to just hear the song, I'd listen to the CD...

I do think it was a little too over-explicit for a primetime slot on ABC, but I don't see it to the extent that like 2,000 complaints should have been placed towards the performance. Granted, I'm really not into Lambert's music but I can defiantly say that he has a great voice. Still I admit that I am a Kris Allen fan and I did vote for him since the very beginning in American Idol, so this comes from a point of view of a person that isn't a fan of Lambert's music.

i loved the performance and i always expected the performance to be a bit sexually charged but i think it was a great performance.
The album is also amazing although i was a bit sceptical when i first heard the single For Your Entertainment but it's kinda grown on me and the other songs on the album are pretty great. I've been a fan since i first saw him perform Black Or White on American Idol.
As a stright person i don't at all mind the performance, i don't really have a problem with it.

Yeah but in the case of music award ceremonies I'm willing to accept that ignorance is bliss.

I don't see what was wrong with it, it was a performance.

I gave this a lot of thought. His performance was inappropriate to the ABC network, whether it was late at night or not. The only thing that I would say was inappropriate though, was the leashing, middle finger and the oral sex stunt. Yes women have done "sexual" performance but, you don't see them grabbing a guys face and forcing them in to their crotch. on a family show That's way out of line.

Now on to the Madonna and Britney kissing. That was on MTV and it wasn't as sexual charged as Adam's performance, and it was on MTV. They themselves claim it is not a family show. The AMA's have always been know as a classy show for mostly families and the youngsters. (Britney must hate raisins now)

One thing I noticed about Gay people like "Perez Hilton" is that instead of helping out the gay community, he makes them look distasteful.

I feel like Adam lambert does not have to apologize. Why should he? What is the point of him apologizing, people nowadays don't take apologies. Especially from famous people. I can understand depending on the situation though.

I don't really think you should cast opinions about members of the gay community being distasteful while you are trying to repent your homosexuality.

To be fair, while I disgree with Daniel's own personal confusion, I don't really see how it's relevant.

Although I do think that anyone who is grossly offended by this clip should probably punch themselves in the face.

I am not offended by the clip and I am very aware of how the gay community is. Perez Hilton makes gay people look distasteful. Not because he's a blogger but because every time he mentions something about the gay community "To Stick Up For them" he does it in a trashy way. It pisses me off. He makes gay people look loud and sexual.

Anyway,

The performance was unacceptable to the younger viewers no matter if he was gay or not. I personally loved the performance. But just because he's gay doesn't mean he had the right to do what he did, I have not seen women do what he did when it came to the oral sex thing. That's the only thing I see that is unacceptable. Anything else is just fine. ABC is a family show and the AMA's used to be a classy award show until his performance.

ABC is doing the right thing now to make sure that any future performances are much like the rehearsals. I agree and I also now agree that he shouldn't perform on the channel for a while.

I think he's referring to the media perception of, even accidental nudity (see the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction (which I refuse to call Nipplegate because adding gate on the end of words to turn them into a scandal makes no fucking sense because the hotel was called Watergate, so you might as well prefix with Water and call it Waternipple you stupid fucking fucks...)).
