Lol, I was happy to know he went number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. But he is cute and he can sing.

It wasn't written in 2009, but I heard it first in 2009, so it kinda counts:

Just to name a few:

Muse-Uprising
The Killers-The World We Live In (its album was released in 2008, but was released as a single in 2009)
Owl City-Fireflies
Chester French-She Loves Everybody
YouMeAtSix-Kiss & Tell
Imogen Heap-First Train Home
Linkin Park-New Divide
Dead By Sunrise-Crawl Back In
Green Day-Know Your Enemy (It's better than 21 Guns, and well, it's better than most of the shit released this year)
Depeche Mode-Wrong
Train-Hey, Soul Sister

In my opinion, this is year is an embarrassment. This year in music was so terrible, that it reached heights thought impossible to reach. So many one-hit wonders this year, never to be seen again. Jason DeRulo, Owl City, Jeremith, Drake, Ke$ha (not counting "Right Round"), Cobra Starship, who else am I missing? Also, Black Eyed Peas were okay before, nothing special, just another r&b band, but this year! They are SOOO annoying! Then, there's Lady Gag-a. Well, she is one of the few good things this year, for about 5 minutes. I gotta admit that "Just Dance" was okay. But after "Pokerface", I got bored quickly cuz all her songs have fairly similar instrumental parts, and the lyrics are the only differences. So overall, this year was terrible. Infact, I'd rather be living in 2008, when Coldplay and Katy Perry wouldn't shut up on the radio. That music at least didn't make me vomit.....as much. Not saying that I don't like Coldplay, just not as much after Viva.

I don't really get why Steph is laughing because most if not all of the songs Tisha named are better than She Wolf... which by the way is NOT the pop song of the decade.

Shut the hell up you don't know what you're talking about. First of all its a matter of opinion and second of all I was laughing at what she said with the caps you idiot.

And really in my opinion all those songs aren't better than She Wolf.

But since you think so, let me tell you why I think you're wrong:

She wolf (loba)
-WRITTEN AND PRODUCED BY SHAKIRA
-First pop song to use the word Lycanthropy
-first pop song to have howling
-amazing song to dance to
-critics fell in love with the instrumental, they even say even with the instrumental you can feel the song and you can sense it is a shakira song
-Not only did she have an amazing English version she provided a Spanish one (which in my opinion is lyrically better)
-The music video without joking is one of the sexiest videos ever.

"I'm starting to feel just a little abused like a coffee machine in an office" (The metaphor to this may be funny but it has irony)

"Not getting enough retribution or decent incentives to keep me at it." (Who uses smart words like that in Pop music, um no one)

RIHANNA-RUDE BOY (Not written nor produced by Rihanna) (Good song, eventually got tired of it after five listens and once again not even close to as good as She wolf)
RIHANNA-WAIT YOUR TURN (Not written nor produced by Riahnna) (All right song but hell to the no not better than She wolf)
RIHANNA-ROCKSTAR 101 Featuring.Slash (Not Written nor produced by Rihanna) (And are you kidding me, this song is so cliche)
MARIAH CAREY-OBSESSED (Pftttttttttttttttttttt lmaooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! You even brought it up by PM about how Mariah Carey's new song sucks)
LADY GAGA-MONSTER (Good song but hell to the no, NOT better than she wolf
JASON DERULO-WHATCHA SAY ( a song that has a female using auto tune to say "Whatcha Say" thorough the whole song, This is in fact the worst song this year)

Like are you kidding me:

Just a correction, Steph. Rihanna did actually write Wait Your Turn, Rockstar 101 and Rude Boy, love her and the new album. :)

Anyway, my fav songs of the year would be:

Alexandra Burke - Bad Boys/Broken Heels
Britney Spears - 3
Rihanna - Rude Boy/Fire Bomb/Hard/Russian Roulette
Adam Lambert - Fever
Ke$ha - TiK ToK
Lady GaGa - Bad Romance/Telephone/Dance in the Dark/Teeth
Eva Simons - Silly Boy
BoA - I Did It for Love/Energetic/Obsessed

And I'll throw in a bit of Jeffree Star, I quite liked his album.

She didn't according her credits they were written by someone else, out of the ones we mentioned only Hard was written by her.

Her songs are good but not the best of the year in my opinion.

Big whoop. Written, fair enough. Produced? Any big name pop star gets producer credit. But notice how it's always co-produced with an actual producer? I don't think this fact is noteworthy in any way, nor does it have any bearing on the song's actual quality.

stephaniewazhere wrote:

You can tell from the instrumental version that it's Shakira? Wow. That's easily the least impressive thing I have ever heard about a song. That's like saying "Even if you cover the big yellow M with your hand, you can still tell this building is a McDonald's" If you can't tell that it's an artist when you remove the vocals then frankly you're listening to very bland music.

Again not indicative of quality, although I certainly appreciate her not completely selling out her heritage.

Again, I have no idea how that's supposed to be impressive. If anything, those seem like extremely awkward translations - much like her earlier assertion that we won't confuse her breasts with mountains. Nobody who speaks English as a first language could come up with such a phrase - which isn't to be disparaging to Spanish-speakers, but really the only reason those words are notable is because they're so ridiculous.

I'm not trying to be an ass here, but some of the things you're claiming about this song are literally incorrect facts, which having been pointed out to you earlier this year, makes them lies. The parts that are subjective opinion, that's fair enough, but people are going to disagree.

Big whoop???????? it took three months to make the track you idiot. Shakira writes and produces her own songs, she has videos to prove it and even the producers when asked have called her a good producer. SHE WOLF IS THE FIRST POP SONG TO USE THE WORD LYCANTHROPY and howling. And You obviously don't know her life story.

And anything else like I said is my opinion.

One thing that I know for sure (And it pisses me off when it goes unnoticed) is that Shakira is very involved in the writing and production process. Have you heard why she uses the term "My Hips Don't Lie". The only thing that Shakira does not do is the real technical stuff. The fact that Shakira was able to crossover to a whole new sound yet keep her originality to the point the critics were able to say that, that is a Shakira song, is amazing. And shows how original Shakira is.

The whole thing about bilingual people is not true. We have different cultures which can effect the way we mean things when we say it.
And her use of "don't confuse my breast with mountains" was when she first started. Shakira now knows the English language very well. In fact her use of English words are amazing and she has a lot of high level vocabulary words that many pop artist would be like "what does that mean?". Shakira said it herself she just needed something to rhyme at the time when she wrote "Whenever Wherever".

Anyway the most impressive thing she did was to provide both a Spanish and English version to the She Wolf song. Not many artists can do that. And many artist who do don't do it well. Which again bilingual critics were impressed by the resemblance of the songs (even though that many agree the Spanish one is better lyrical wise).

No "Pop" artist has rhymed or used the word "Lycanthropy" in a "Pop" song before, to my knowledge and to many critics.

Anyway its just my opinion that "She Wolf" is the best song of the year and the best pop song of the decade.
