I never had a social life growing up, I had to stay home baby sit. Blah blah you have heard the story.
Did growing up have a huge influence on yours? Do you hate not having one or having one?

I had a great one till I was 13, then went into depression and didn't have a spec of one till I was 18. Then I had a great one again but lost myself in the process of enjoying finally having a social life, so I resulted hating it and took a break. Now I'm alright with it, live for the weekends pretty much. xP
Also my boyfriend being a total creep, lying and manipulating me during the "great social life" @ 18 years old did not help. Gave me a bit more depression. :/ So glad he's gone lolz |

I don't really have a social life, mainly because my friends are not into the things I like, and the ones that are spend their lives studying and don't leave the house. My mother kinda fucks up my chances most of the time too. But I'm no party animal or anything, I enjoy spending time with myself at home. Edited by user 18 December 2009 05:10:23(UTC)

Sure I have one from time to time, though some of my friends' friends scare me from going out
e.g Me: Hey Them: Like.. hey Me (trying to be friendly and not coming of as the douchebag I am): so are you Moni's friend? Them: Like..yeah Me: so how did you met Them: Like.. we were in this... (rants for 5-10 minutes about how they met and then for 10-20 minutes on how great and european is their family) Me: uhum... so (thinks for a quick question that will not turn on another rant, fails at it and goes for an easy one).. what's your favorite band? Them: Like.. I enjoy diverse things.. like.. that doesnt fits the... (rants for 5-10 minutes about how diverse is their music taste and for 10-20 minutes about how pretty is their bathroom's floor) Me (pissed off for not getting an answer): so.. well you didnt tell me what your favorite band is Them: Metrostation Me: Fuck off Them: Like.. what did I do Me: Fuck off Them: Dont be rude, man Me: Fuck off |

I'm living my teen years right now, and I'm fairly happy with my life. I'm not the big man in the house, but I'm fairly well-known amongst the ranks of other teenagers in the area. I got music with my band, a few girlfriends I've had over the past few years (still blossoming into a real-time player lol I'm kidding I'm not the manipulative type), I have a good crowd of friends. I don't care if I have a great reputations or a terrible one, I just look for a at least one friend I can hang out with and share secrets and stories. Of course, I have more than that, but I really don't care about fame, just amusement I suppose. I'm okay at school. Accelerated class, which, I don't know about you guys, but that's not really something that important or anything of a big deal here. It's all about the Honors classes like Humanities for example. And plus there are like different ranks of same scale classes. Like there are 3 accelerated English teachers for freshmen, one of them is considered the hardest. Another is okay. Another is easy. They are all the same level, but it's like their reputation and "strict" level, which might cause more homework or more studying for more tests etc. Overall, I'm pleased with my life. And, yes, I too had a minor depressing part of my life, but that was just cuz it was winter, and somehow it got to me. lol |

I had to move so much while growing up that I gave up on the whole idea of having friends. Me and my sisters would go to school, then come back I would stay with my siters til the next day. Same routine and on Saturday's and Sunday's all day with them. I was basically a parent. Music was the only thing I believe that kept me alive. I remember when "...Baby One More Time" came out, I use to dance and sing to it and my lil sis who was like 6 at the time would be like "Poque tu bailas como una nina" ("Why do you dance like a girl?") And I would rapidly say, "Oh I'm not dancing like a girl, I'm just making fun of the song. I remember being confused saying to myself. why do I do this? Why am I not normal like the other kids? Why do I hate sports? And I would go cry in the bathroom like a little stupid girl. Come back out and try to watch something manly. Having a social life is not a bad thing though? It can be good for you. But I'm so used to being home that I'm a home person. Edited by user 19 December 2009 03:51:58(UTC)

Shadowmire wrote:Essentially, I have no offline social life (for various reasons). I'll admit I'm pretty much like this. My friends aren't really "mine", I just intrude on my sister's social circle. She doesn't mind, we all get on well, but that's all. The only friends I know offline now, and actually made friends with myself, are Shaun, an extremely talkative wanker whom I went to college with, and Mad James, a violent compulsive liar ex of mine whom I met at a mental home karaoke party. (I'll stick with my sister's friends, I think.) |

The vast majority of my real-life friends now are people I met either through the internet or at least through people I met on the internet.
But it's fucking great. |

Due to moving to a whole different part of the country I had to rebuild my social life from scratch. Worked pretty well I'd say. That said, I still keep in touch with all my old buddies.

When i was younger i used to always be out with friends and as i got into my teens i started going out less but for the last couple of years i've become more involved with friends not a whole lot of friends but about 6 close friends. I've had a couple of years where i was spending most of my time on my own and it was actually the best thing for me and now i'm actually really happy i'm the person i want to be now.
