Chris Squire-Yes Cliff Burton-Metallica Geddy Lee-Rush John Entwistle- The Who, probably the first bassist to use more guitar like techniques Flea-RHCP Victor Wooten-Solo Alex Webster-Cannibal Corpse Martin Mendez-Opeth Beezer Butler-Black Sabbath Modern rock doesn't use a lot of good bassists but I think Mike Dirnt's bass lines in earlier Green Day was pretty good
