I think we should have some more award shows in the game. And a bit more often. Cuz I've been here for about 4 months now, and I've only seen one award show, and that was the Hot Topic one that happened not even a week ago. I'm just saying this cuz it will make the roleplay thread better, cuz it kinda sucks right now, and they should be some more certain genre awards like Best Rock Song or Best Pop Album. |

If you want to do them, go right ahead. They're a crapload of work and the only show I've ever seen done successfully here are the IMAs. |

I mean with the HT ones, they don't have nearly as much cred as the Birdies simply because the Birdies have been running since the dawn of time. So even if you did make your own award show, it would take a while to even get near the credibility you need for people to actually appreciate winning one. |

I think the current award shows are - IMAs/Birdies (run by bikz & old.gregg; non-genre-specific) Hot Topic Pop Honors (run by stephaniewazhere; pop-specific) Mother Fuckin' Rock Awards (run by Synxhard; rock/metal/punk-specific)
The next IMAs/Birdies is 10th February 2010. (The date is not accidental, 10/2/2010 is one year since The Rockstar Game returned.) They usually happen around every three months, give or take. Don't know about the others, I'm not in on them. (: |

The only shows from the HTC Awards that I would consider successful are the 1st and 2nd Ceremony. From there it went downhill in a sad way. The third one was going to be off the hook, I made cool videos and everything, but people didn't appreciate the hard work that went to that one and quickly lost interest. The same thing for the 4th one (Which in my opinion if it happened was going to be better than the Birdies) Since no one showed interest I gave up on them. And It's not that the award shows are wack, is that People (Like Bikz) can't stand the fact that there is another award show running other than the Birdies (which I find stupid). The Birdies are great and all but the process of it has already bored me. Why? Well because The Birdies are the only award shows that run. (Even though I won three awards) the latest Birdies in my opinion are a great example why the Birdies are getting more boring every time. The problem is the process of the nominations. No recognition whatsoever unless you "Shamelessly plug in (A lazy way to make nominations)" Something HTC Awards never did. Anyway, I'm just giving my honest opinion of The Birdies and their reputation is the only that's saves the award show in my opinion. Anyway, The Real HTC Awards will be back in February 2010 (The good one not the Pop Honors). This will the 3rd and probably my last attempt. on saving the award show. I can stand that there are other award shows, and trust me, nobody appreciates the hard work put into them more than me, because I know exactly how backbreaking the whole thing is. And answer me this, Steph - what would you do to improve the nominations process on the IMAs, being as you think it's so "boring"? As I state - plugging is voluntary, just a way to show off what you've done in the last few months and to help the judges decide, it isn't a requirement to get yourself nominated, and judges can vote for anything that fits the category (with a little leeway on the Most Attractives), not just what's been plugged. Oh, and by the way - didn't you say that was your character's opinion on award shows, that the CHARACTER Stephanie Fierce doesn't appreciate my work, but really you do? But now, you don't appreciate it at all. Which is it? Edited by user 21 December 2009 04:45:46(UTC)

I would do loads to improve the nomination process. Instead of "Shamelessly pluggin in" have judges look into other people's thread and see who really deserves the nomination. Have the nominations feel like a surprise. It can get pretty predictable who is going to be nominated with the "Plug In Thread", which is the reason why It getting boring. I think people will appreciate nomination a little more if they found out they are nominated by surprise. And if that's too hard. Instead of people posting on which categories they should get nominated. Have people post on which artist they think "Judges should look into". Just the names and that's it. Have the judges do the research. AND THEN, after the nominations are announced have people say why they think they should win. That would make the Birdies an awesome more respected award show. And not just respected for its reputation. Edited by user 21 December 2009 04:55:14(UTC)

That would make the Birdies an awesome more respected award show. And not just respected for its reputation. The reasons for the plug threads - 1. How difficult the research would be. It was tough on the last board, it's near impossible to judge at a glance on this one because there are so many threads in RP, and there aren't many to a page. The website threads list makes it easier I guess, but even then, not everyone has one, and not everyone who does updates regularly. 2. Plugging is a good activity check. Handing Birdies to someone who doesn't do RP is pretty pointless. |

Just put down the name of the artist and look at the threads. Assign the artist and bands to each judge, You can divide the number to each. 2. Well obviously and someone you plugs in an artist that doesn't RP than they should not be nominated in the first place.

Well obviously and someone you plugs in an artist that doesn't RP than they should not be nominated in the first place. I do agree that the plugging could do with some work, but I don't think we should get rid of it entirely. I think what we should do is simply have a limit on how many words you can use to plug your artist for each section, or maybe an overall number of words you can use so people don't plug themselves for everything? I don't know, but making people trawl through every single thread the persons ever made about whatever they've put themselves up for seems unnecessary. However I think I'm with the rest of the board in saying we don't just respect the Birdies for their reputation, but for the fact Bikz works her ass off on them, the way they're always fair and unbiased, and the fact that everyone who gives a shit about RP comes online just to check them out - something the HT's are yet to do, I believe. |

The Birdies have been great since I signed up, and were great long before that. I don't think, personally, that they need to be changed. I'm glad to be more involved with it recently, too, but Bikz will always be the star of the show. |

I'll respect anyone who attempts to do a award show, and I'll support it but truth be told no award show will be better than the Birdies/IMA's. The structure of it is just unmatchable compared to other award shows that I've seen on my time here. It's the award show that gives everyone whether veteran or newcomer a chance. Plus with the judges it is not bias, it's not just one or two people deciding everything. |
