Well it depends doesn't it I'm a white person and I'm quite tanned but then you can get really pale white people, and same with black people it's just different shades of skin colours I guess.

Or akin to the term mulatto for mixed race kids, which is offensive in some cultures. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mulatto Worth a read just for the pictures on the right.
