Since I didn't know there were more than a few that play it, I thought I should make a thread. When it comes to Synth, this is what I do (That's not my playing btw its Ronald)

I'm classically trained since 7, and my favorite composer would, without a doubt, be Chopin. Very beautiful and deep pieces Chopin has made over the years. My father is crazy about his pieces, and he has asked my piano teacher to constantly giving me some of his songs to play, to which I gladly agree to play. Chopin has very deep songs, that are all fairly simple, but are so interesting and lovable to play. He also knows how to use the pedal in a remarkable way. I hate playing Chopin songs without using the right pedal, otherwise, it's just not as deep and, well, I want to use the word psychedelic, but I just know somebody here is gonna say, "He ain't a Beatle!" What I mean is, his songs are very imaginative, and remarkable. |

A while ago I was in HMV, picked up an excellent boxset from an impressive range, called Simply Chopin, which was four discs for £6.99. Anyway, disc one was orchestral and the latter three are Piano works. Love the Nocturnes. And the Mazurkas. I'm really more of a fan of minimalism though, Philip Glass' Solo Piano album is probably the best thing I've ever heard played on a piano. It's not got the fanciness, the elegance of Chopin, but that's something I like about it. Every note is as important as every other note. Picked up an Erik Satie collection yesterday as a matter of fact, so got the Gymopédies to digest, and all those hilariously titled "Sports et divertissements" vignettes. |

Glass' work is indeed rather astounding. I'm not so big on Chopin myself, but I appreciate the intricacy involved. It was more of my ex's terrain, he knew his way round many a nocturne.
Anyway, I've been playing piano for... 7 years now. I'm taught on my course about technique and basic phrasing, and the rest, I beat into myself. I love my piano. |
