I was just wondering how many of you guys can play instruments or write songs or sing.
I play the guitar, I can play a couple of songs on the piano and I sing.
At 16 i used to play local places like at school end of term things and at the local leisure centre which was opened for teenagers to go to and keep out of trouble.
Anyway i don't really play for people as much now, i'm not one of those people who record a video of themselves singing or playing and post it on the internet, i just do it because i enjoy it, i don't want it to be some sort of career.
I was wondering how many of you can play music just for fun and how many of you actually want to try and have a career from it?

I played in a band with my ex girlfriend too. we're on good terms so it wasn't much of a problem.
I play drums, bass, guitar and a tiny bit of keyboard. Currently I am in 4 bands, three of ehich are not permanent. I'm looking to start a real metal band but that will have to wait till my exams are over.
Transferium Project: Symphonic progressive melodic death metal
Carnage: Brutal old-school death metal
Ancient Legend: Progressive power/shred metal

Piano - 7 years
Bass - 5 Years
Guitar - 4 years
Cello - 1 year
Vocals - undetermined, I don't claim to be good, quite the opposite. It's like Conor Oberst crossed with a sarcastic and British teenager.

I'm a keyboard geek, if anything. I own too many of the things, ranging from (the infamously lino-hated) toy keyboard, to vintage 80s synth, to standard models, to a warbling MTF organ I found at a carboot sale and picked up cause I thought, just one day, I might use it, or circuit bend it at least.

I've gigged shitloads, from small pubs with no audience and the regular bar flies paying no attention, to large festivals, recieving a lot of attention. All are nice, I suppose.

I record by myself. I have all my instruments and equipment, but few songs rarely get passed the demo MP3. I'm a lazy, lazy person. I have a backlog of 3 albums to record, with 1 out ("A True Friend Will Stab You In The Front" /wrists), 1 EP out ("Showing Off My Skeleton"), and one half finished ("Will You Hold Me Down") which has been as such for a good year and a half.

Also on the list, are several tiny EPs which make no sense. I have a written list on my (outdated) MySpace, if I recall... http://www.myspace.com/sirensandsounds

So yeah, I also write music, have been for a good few years. My "creative writing" so to speak, I portfolio'd recently at: http://werewords.deviantart.com

I'm far more into actually writing and constructing music than playing or appreciating it. I'm backwards. I just love writing, then I love thinking of all the means which create a solid and interesting song. But I don't enjoy playing.

I'm such a backwards musician...

I play keyboard, bass, guitar and I find it easy to play most string instruments, yet I suck at songwriting.

I have instruments. I can't play them. I do play them.

My guitar is downtuned from E to Drop Ab.

I've been playing guitar and drums for the past 9 years. Currently I'm in an avent-garde metal band, and 2 other metal groups, although the avant-garde group is my main focus.

I've been playing drums since I was 10 (I am now 21). That is definitely my main instrument. I also have been playing guitar and bass for about 4 years, but have developed a kind of idiosyncratic style that is difficult to fit with other things. Hard to explain, but definitely not a mark of proficiency on my part. I can play piano marginally well, so I usually use that to compose chordal stuff and whatnot; it becomes a good default writing instrument, but I definitely am not great at it by any means. And I sing, but I have so many lung issues at any one time that my voice is basically eternally out of order. But I can do a variety of extreme vocals as well, which you don't need good lungs for. But that's basically cheating.

I'm usually a scream-type vocalist, and I play bass, drums, and keyboard. That's it.

I play the bass fairly well. I absolutely love Flea! I can play some simple drums, quite a few chords on guitar, a bit of keyboard and I can belt out a verse if I need to.

I can play the guitar,bass,drums,piano/keyboard whatever, trumpet, and most recently the cello which I play in school just because it might look good on a college resume.I'm in 1 band which is only two people but we're called Feeble Life and I guessed we'd be some mix between death metal/black metal/and possibly thrash, I don't really know.We just recorded our first demo on saturday, it's not amazing and I mess up on most songs but we're gonna re-record them eventually.Speaking of which anyone wanna make a logo for me?I'd really appreciate it and love you forever!I have 2 side projects, one is I guess Crust Punk/Grind Core and the other s my imitation of Burzum called Unseen Evil (cuz no one knows who the fuck I am) which I do exclusively with my computer.Once I get a new computer I'll probably start uploading shit on youtube and eventually will probably make a record with the material, I want to get some more virtual instrument plugins first though (I'm trying to get superior drummer 2.0 and I think I'll end up recording guitar). The punk side project isn't serious and I only write songs for it when I'm bored, UE is on hiatus at the moment but I'm pretty serious about it.

Oh yeah I forgot vocals.I guess I'm ok at singing but I've got a pretty mean death growl, a decent black metal screech (I speak with a higher inflection but my actual voice is a baritone so I can scream like a five year old), and my death metal scream is pretty good too, I have a crazy one on the last song of the demo.

I'v seen them both, I just like superior drummer better, more "metal" I guess I dunno but EZ drummer is cheaper.

I play the keyboard & sing, and write strange lyrics. Mostly about god or people I know, but with an abstract twist. Song titles include such hits as My Menstrual God.

The keyboard part is highly uncomplicated, and just kinda acts as a back drop. I'd like to record something and post it up here but I haven't got any such equipment that would enable me to do so :(

You know, logically all you folks what can play, should totally all collaborate on a song.
