Okay, let's all have a debate on who is the best band ever, put your opinion on who is the best band, defend them and prove that they really are the best. Now there are no wrongs here, just better defenses from other people..

My bet would have to be Queen, the most epic live performers ever... Why?
Roger Taylor-has awesome drum skills and never misses a beat
John Deacon-has killer bass lines and is awesome live
Brian May is-one of the best guitarists who ever lived and has made the greatest solos known to man(which are extremely hard to play live especially with a band like Queen)
and ofcourse:
Freddie Mercury
-this man has got to be the best live performer of all time, he is musically talented, has a great voice, and is an awesome man on stage.Without him, I would have a hard time defending Queen right now because he is the main reason why Queen are a great live band. He is so good that even one of the best live bands today, Muse, was inspired by his stage antics and Queen's epic live performances. Muse are now the modern Queen(they are great live performers too...)
BEAT THAT!!!

Shouldn't this be in the music section?

Ok, I'll beat that...Opeth are the greatest live band ever. Why? Because I said so.

We had this discussion before, and I probably said it was Sunn O))) or Oxbow.

Even in its acoustic duo incarnation, Oxbow is a force to be punched in the face by.

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band - Because they've been consistently good over the years and are still performing brilliantly in their 60's and have toured regularly since they returned in 2000. Just watch Live In New York or Live In Barcelona, fair enough they don't create top 40 singles anymore but it's still just as good as it's ever been.

Avenged Sevenfold.

I'd say that they sound better live than they do in the studio.

It's such a shame that The Rev died. They won't ever be the same again.

Actually find them to be a bit dull live compared to on CD.

And Avenged Sevenfold? Worst gig I ever went to was an Avenged Sevenfold show. They were blown away by Send More Paramedics, the support band.

Now THEY may be one of the most fun bands I've seen live. Also, Mistress. Fucking blistering live group. And Anaal Nathrakh live are ALWAYS chaotic.

Really? Now I don't like Avenged Sevenfold, but when I saw them they put on one hell of a performance. Although, yeah, I'd agree with Send More Paramedics being better, cause they were just so much fun!

Best band I've seen live would probably be Say Anything. They supported hellogoodbye, though I mainly went to see Say Anything. Up until I saw My Passion the other week, hellogoodbye were the worst band I'd seen live. Say Anything more than made up for it. I guess Jack's Mannequin are the band I enjoyed most, though.

EDIT: Oh, and in my opinion, you can't qualify a band to be the Best Live Band ever without actually seeing them...

Rammstein. At least when it comes to antics. Like them or not, but they put on a show like no-one has ever done. From simulated sodomy to roasting their keyboardist woth a flamethrower. On the last tour they had exploding dolls hanging from the roof of the stage with laser eyes, do your best to top that. Yeah, I adore Rammstein :P
But I totally agree with Freddy Mercury being the best performer of all time. Queen themselves are one of the best bands ever.
Transferium Project: Symphonic progressive melodic death metal
Carnage: Brutal old-school death metal
Ancient Legend: Progressive power/shred metal

Yes, even worse than Motorhead and their whole "thing" for playing the music so loud that it all just blurs into one big long boring mid-tempo yawn-fest.

I saw Bruce Springsteen at Hard Rock Calling Festival on June 28, not only did he perform with the E Street Band on his set but he also did The 59 Sound with The Gaslight Anthem.
Does that count?

I hate them but KISS was one of the first really great live hard rock bands.I really like Opeth live, they're dull but they sound good, Green Day is amazing live, I really like any black metal band live or at least mayhem and Satyricon, Children of Bodom is another live favorite for me.Really any band that doesn't sound too different from how they are on the record.

Best show ever, eh? Well, I'm gonna have to go with Pantera. I saw them when I was 11 at Universal Amphitheater in LA, and I was convinced I was gonna die. Phil was just out of this world, singing his fucking heart out, and just dominating the room, and the Rex and Vinny duo created one of the best rhythm sections, period. But, as most of you would assume, the main highlight was brother Dime. Glad I got to see them, that was their second to last tour of the US, ever.

Bruce Springsteen, went watching him at Hyde Park this year, unbelievably good.

Went watching Oasis at Heaton Park, they were real quality as well, completely different gig to Springsteen, but really good.

Worst performance I've ever watched was The Killers when I went to T In The Park. They are crap.
