I don't know what it is, but Trivium remains one of the few metalcore bands I honestly like, and their new track for the God of War game is great. It's like going back to their debut album and tossing in blast beats, which is a huge improvement from the last 2 albums.

Here's the link if anyone's ineterested:

Yup. I'm with you. Trivium are utterly unlistenable to my ears. There's just something incredibley cynical and over-produced about them.

Paul listens to Protest The Hero. Which is so fucking weird.

Anyway. Now playing is the NEW BURZUM! FUCKING YES! The first time Varg has recorded with guitars since 1993 (Dauði Baldrs & Hliðskjálf were both synths only records, I guess Norwegian prisons thought that letting a murderer record an album or two is OK so long as he doesn't use a guitar to do it) and it sounds GOOD. It sounds like he was never away.

Which is a treat.

Yeah, that surprises me quite a lot actually.

'Darkness Spawned' by The Black Dahlia Murder, one of my favorite tracks by them, only rivaled by 'A Vulgar Picture'.

I would hope you would at least agree their music has declined greatly since then.

Ever since they got on Guitar Queero, all my friends are all like "omg, I totatly love Killswitch Engage!" and thus they have killed another fine metal band, despite them being alternative metal (perhaps the worst type of metal of them all). And that's probably why they suck now, cuz they got some mainstream attention. But I don't think Jesse was the biggest reason why they got bad, cuz he left in '02. and KE got bad after like 06-07ish.

Huh? Anyway, nah, anything after 'Alive Or Just Breathing' is horrendous, they lost any real metal vibe they had going. And I would have to disagree with 2 of your points, 1. I would beg to differ about mainstream killing all, or even most, metal bands, cause I mean, guys like LOG debuted at #2 with 'Wrath', and they're still fucking fantastic, though yes, sometimes it can spell a band's demise. In the end, it kinda lies in the hand's of the band to decide to chase mainstream success or to whatever they want to and hope for the best. Secondly, Killswitch practically invented metalcore, which I would argue is quite different (though in most cases not much better) then alternative metal.

I though 'Alive or Just Breathing' was a lukewarm success for the band. It wasn't anything amazing, but it still wasn't too terrible. But I already agreed with you on the fact that Jesse's leave was the beginning of the band's demise. I just think that it wasn't necessarily the next record that ruined them.
