For those who don't know, the International Music Awards (Birdies) are music awards, run by the golden Comatose couple and myself, helped by a panel of judges within the community. The award itself is an honourable recognition of your abilities as a musician or band. However, it shouldn't be taken too seriously (only I do that) and it's all in fun. Whether you win or not, the ceremony and the afterparty are great times. Some of the best nights out that rockstars have are at the Birdies!

The next Birdies will be held on March 14th 2010 if that's OK by Jakey and Raven.

So .... time to get talking, any suggestions of changes to the awards are welcome!

The usual list -
Best Band
Best Solo Artist
Best Newcomer
Best Artwork
Best Album
Best Single
Best Live Act
Best Gig/Tour/Festival
Most Attractive Male
Most Attractive Female
Best Record Label/Management
Best Personality
Random Award
Icon Award

It's been that way for quite a few ceremonies now, so maybe a change would do us good. What do you think?

If It were allowed to add new categories I would say:
Best Song (even though you have Singles, not all songs are singles though)
Best Collaboration (I see some on the forums right now)

Most Outrageous - brilliant, can't believe I missed that.
Best Underground - I think I like, though the definition of "underground" would need to be made clear.
Best Collaboration - we've had this before, as a one-off - it's a good one if there are a lot of potential nominees, but not if there aren't. (Like, when we had "Best Comeback", it was suitable then because there were a lot of bands making comebacks, it wouldn't work now.) Have to check that out.
Most Hated - no.
Best Song - good idea, but I'm not sure if enough non-single songs have been given the attention to make it make sense.
Random Award - is something nonsensical that the Birdies owners add. For example, Lewis Mason won an icon award for his toy keyboard, fAthOm won a cup of tea, Steph Fierce won an upside-down Birdie, Captain Insano won a bunny killer award, just things like that. They're respectable Birdies as much as any other, but also silly.

I was thinking that it would be for the bands who are kind of looked over in the Best Band category and stuff like that....
