Heavy rock is just another word for hard rock... And you don't need to lecture me on what genres SABBATH and PRIEST are. ;) You've obviously never heard glam rock if you think KISS is glam. KISS not heavy? Listen to Creatures of the Night, and let's see if you think then.

I love when you post, Throgrim, because you give me normally at least an hour of fun on YouTube every time. It's great.
Also, the fish I named after you is still doing fine. He has almost become markedly less cowardly.

Wow, someone actually reads on my posts on music! That makes me a happy man. I'll celebrate with a glass of JD. Cheers.
Hahaha, good to hear! You can't be a coward with a name like that.

Going to SAINT VITUS on the 7th of February, with CENTURION'S GHOST (shit), THE LAMP OF THOTH (brilliant), and OLD SEASON (never heard 'em) as support. Should be cool.

graveworm wrote:Here is something no one's heard of: TWILIGHT OPHERA!!! They share a member with Korpiklaani? Then I'm glad I've never heard them. Besides, melodic black metal. That's like saying "dissonant pop music", a horrible combination that sounds shitty on paper and even shittier in reality. |

The first 2 Dimmu albums, the first 2 Dissection albums, all good shit. At the moment I'm into technical death metal. My favorites are Atheist,Death, and Decapitated with Cynic,Cryptopsy,Suffocation, and Gorguts pickin' up the rear |

No, melodic black metal is fucking abominable. If your black metal needs to have some melody to it please avoid having appalling sounding keyboards please. Do it like Lifelover or the many other depressive bands in the genre.
Yuck. I just find it such unsatisfying music to listen to. |

The one thing I will never be able to stand is keyboards in metal of any sort.

Synxhard wrote:The one thing I will never be able to stand is keyboards in metal of any sort. Sometimes it works. I mean it depends on the kind of metal and the kind of keyboard used. A nice warm fuzzy sounding mellotron or something in some psychedelic doom? Awesome if you ask me. The horrid electronic sound you get in Cradle of Filth or Dimmu Borgir? I'll pass thanks. True, I guess I actually do quite enjoy what Opeth does with them, but yes, the whole black metal + keys thing is a big no-no in my book.

I prefer my black metal cold, grim and blasphemous, none of this symphonic , melodic, soft cock wankery. Utter shit. |
_____________ The Black Gates- Progressive technical metal The Infidels!- Retro doom funk grindcore The Graveyard Sluts- dirty, slutty rawwwwk Psycopathologist- old school death grind Everyone is entitled to an opinion, it's just that your's is stupid. |

My tastes in black metal skew to the more progressive side, like Arcturus, later Emperor, Wolves in the Throne Room and stuff like that. Especially Ihsahn's solo work and the Peccatum albums. Or, alternatively, the early thrashier, NWOBHM-inspire stuff like Bathory, Immortal or early Mercyful Fate. The stereotypical black metal sound I just find incredibly boring. Stupid beyond belief.
I'm rather looking forward to the new Iron Maiden album and their tour with Dream Theater. I know the view towards DT here, but fuck it, I like 'em. Also, Mastodon, Baroness and Between the Buried and Me touring North America soon? And Megadeth touring for Rust In Peace?! Holy shit, so great. I already have tickets for the RIP tour; so excited!
