[Sophy's POV] I get out of my Porsche 911, holding Lukey Comatose's hand, trying to keep each other warm in the biting wind. I look around and see a gaggle of my family and their partners .... Jimmy, my husband, is not amongst them. Glad to see it.
"Are you sure this is the place?" asks Karen. "Surely Alexander would have chosen somewhere a little more .... weddingy."
"Yup, this is it," Dan pitches in. "This, Karen, is where our nephew is getting married to my landlady. A registry office, can you believe it? In - oh my God - BIRMINGHAM!"
Bikki and I, and some of our other siblings, share a giggle. Dan has a lot of spunk. He lives with the Madbirds, he's a total metalhead and loads of fun to be around.
"I suppose that scum Kate chose it," Karen continues. A few of us roll our eyes. She's hated Kate ever since she heard that she and Alex were dating. In fact, she's hated Kate ever since she first stepped into the music industry - typical Karen. She doesn't like young people doing well. She's the oldest of my siblings at 38, and has never really done anything with her life, never married or been in a serious relationship, never had a worthwhile career .... she works at McDonald's, and she calls Kate 'scum'!?
"Give Kate a break, she's one of your family now! Well, our family!" Joshy holds up Brygida to make a point that he too is part of the family. Karen scowls and mutters 'bastard', giving Brygida and then Bikki the evil eye. Dan overheard her.
"Well, what's better .... bastards like Brygida and Lucifer, or a big fat nothing like your children?" Dan sticks his tongue out. "Come on, Lily, let's go." Dan leads the way into the tiny registry office, followed by his fiancée Lily and daughter Lucie-Jennifer aka. 'Lucifer', and then the excess of my family. There are WAY too many of us, compared to Kate's blood family, which is Tess, Cat and Skye. That's all. I wonder how I'd feel if my parents hadn't been there for my wedding!? Kate obviously doesn't give a damn, or if she does, she hides it well.
"'scuse I, arrre ya 'is side or 'errr side?" asks Nick, the obvious choice for security guard, and not in her black and pink dress yet - the bridesmaids' dresses are recycled from Catriona and Jason's wedding. They may have been expensive dresses, but this really is cheap.
"His side," I say. Lukey is less sure .... until Jason Dark, Alex's best man and the oldest of the Comatose three, comes along and clears that up.
"Lucas is one of Kate's," says Jay. He pulls Lukey over to Kate's side of the audience .... he's muttering something about what a shame it is that Jakey couldn't be here. I'm glad that I can barely hear it. I don't think that there's a person in the room who doesn't want Jakey there.
I go over to Bikki, and help her set Joshy up. "Be careful, we don't want one of those Madbirds tripping over me on the way down the aisle! You know what Nickola Biggs is like in a dress!" We laugh, somewhat cattily. Nick is 4'10" tall and not used to wearing dresses, so she'll probably trip up.
"Well, you know these Madbirds, they're very traditional!" I quip back, in reference to Catriona's wedding where Nick fell flat on her face.
The three of us are laughing so much that I don't notice Jimmy walking up to me and kissing me. "Hey, babe. Have I missed anything?"
"Us bitching about Nick's inability to walk straight in a dress and Karen bitching about Kate's existence."
He puts his arm around me. "Nothing unusual then!" I feel kind of uncomfortable. Why should I? Jimmy is my husband, after all.
"Shh!" says Joshy. I inwardly laugh about Joshua Ginger Firecracker, of all people, saying 'shh'. "The music's starting!"OOC : Any comments welcome, be it OOC or "I was there" IC, I don't particularly mind. (: Edited by user 02 April 2010 04:36:05(UTC)
